My mother received a phone call from an 888 number in my name saying I was writing checks with intent to fraud a bank. I don't have a checking account, haven't for some time. He said I needed to call him or I was going to be served. If I was served I would no longer have a chance to speak to the attorney. I have no idea how they got my mothers number...He didn't leave a attorney name or anything...just a ref. number. The only think I can of is a internet payday loan I wasn't able to pay back. Can I be told that I am being sued...and to call for my court date? Or is this man trying to get info out of me...this sounds odd to me!

I called it back and it answers Capital...and to press 0 for the next available person. I pressed it and it went to a voice mail box number 1546 whatever and leave a message. If it were truly an attorneys office I would expect it would state who they were. This is probably a collection agency. I don't think they can tell me they are going to sue me and to call them for my court date without being served. Can they?

I got the exact same call. The number is 888-885-7743! I told them I wasn't paying and they told me I would be served. That was 2 weeks ago and still I have received nothing. I'm pretty sure it's a scare tactic. I'd check to see if the PDL is licensed in your state. Mine isn't...so therefore I am not liable to pay them anymore than what they have already taken from me, which is exactly what I told "capitol" or who ever the hell they are. :)

I received the same call from a guy saying he was w/ the state of texas processing service division, his name was mike. he stated i needed to call 888-885-7801 and get a release order form or he would have me served. he then said to do it quickly cause he had a heavy work load..
