Why is that our government doesnt do nothing against all these payday & high interest liars? I just cannot beleive how many people have serious problems with these agencies. Where is the consumer protection? :x

Amen! I'm sure that the government is getting their fair share of the money which is probably another reason that there is nothing done about the fees. However, I must say that a couple of state officials have really went to bat for their citizens. I just wish that the others would follow suit.

Stefan,
Welcome! I haven't seen any of your posts till today. Why doesn't the gov do anything? It all boils down to one thing: the almighty dollar. And what you really want to educate yourself on is who actually owns the companies and who is profiting.
You are right when you say that the person behind the desk of the PDL company is a worker like you and me, who is probably being paid peanuts to boot.
Also, many PDL's have lobbiests who are paid to go to bat for them in DC and state capitals. One that comes to mind is Advance America--who has also contributed to political campaigns. That's why some governments haven't done anything.

I really hope so Luke. I wish we could get the word out to the millions who still rely on these loans. So many people that need us do not even know that we exist. I wish we could think of a way to get the word out to all those who are trapped (or who will become trapped) in this IPDL mess.

This is one of those things that just drives me nuts sometimes. Another one is the potholes. I have worked hard to buy my car and keep it in a good shape. Well I cant, because of the potholes, emerging daily on the streets of ny. On the middle of the highway, or on the small street it doesnt matter, I still manage to get right into them and destroy my vehicle's rims, tires, suspension. And we all know how much it costs to fix that.

And nobody does anything about it. There is only one lawsuit I found that was placed against the city. I guy riding a motorcycle got into a pothole. They paid him 1.7 million. He lost his both legs thanks to that pothole.

OMG that is horrible. I have a friend that has her car financed through them. They have been harassing her everyday for the last month about her car payment. They keep telling her she hasn't paid it since June. Well excuse me if she hadn't been paying it why haven't they come and picked it up.

She even went into a local branch and they called their installment loan people and told them that she had been paying this car payment and to quit harassing her. They have started calling her at work. I am going to give her a cease and desist order for them. A___holes

Morningstar..My son's high school includes a credit segment in their family living class. So many college students get themselves into serious debt because they do not understand how the fnancial world works. I was really pleased to see his high school educating the students before they start applying for school loans, credit cards, personal loans, etc. I really wish more opportunities exsisted for educating people about pdl's.
