Hi. I have recently moved to Mississippi and I have fallen into the PDL trap. Right now I have several PDL, on which I am paying between $600 and $700 per month in interest alone. Can anyone give me advice?

I have 2 that are for $300 ($365 with interest)
One for $250 ($305 with interest)
Three for $200 ($244 with interest)

Jenni, You have come to the right place for help. SO we can help you better would you list each pdl, how much you borrowed from each and the total of what you have paid to each company. Also would you please list whether they are store front or internet. I will look up your laws and post them so you and everyone else can look at them.

Jenni, I took this from another post....The Money Store, National and ADollar are members of CFSA.
"Go in person, talk to the manager, and print out this link. Because they are members of the CFSA they are REQUIRED to allow you to enter into an extended repayment plan. If they still say no, file a complaint with the CFSA. They could lose their membership."
This is the member list :

http://www.cfsa.net/MemberList.aspx

You can research CFSA on this site. With this though you have to go to the company no later than the day before the pdl is due.

The ones that are not listed you are going to need to work out payment plans with. Have you spoken to any of them so far?

Okay, jenni, I'm only counting 6 listed. But you said 7. Am I missing one?
Check Exchange - not showing on CFSA
Money Now - not showing on CFSA
The Money Store - MEMBER OF THE CFSA
National - is this National Check Cashiers?????
A Dollar Cash Advance - MEMBER OF THE CFSA
Cash2Go - not showing on CFSA

Now, first I need to know if National is indeed National Check Cashiers? If so, then they are a member of the CFSA.

The others that I'm not "showing" may still be only using their "corporate" name rather than a d/b/a name.

Please post as to the answer regarding National. We can go on from there regarding the ones that are members of the CFSA. We can help you here. :D

Jenni, I'm not showing them as a member of the CFSA. However, we do have:
The Money Store
A Dollar Cash Advance
These guys are members of the CFSA. Are you aware of the CFSA? You can get an EPP (extended payment plan) with them. What this means is that you can go to the storefront BEFORE the due date of the loan, invoke the EPP. When you invoke the EPP, you will sign an amendment to your loan documents. This amendment will list a payment plan to repay the loan amount in 4 equal payments until it is paid off. There will be no more fees added on and all collection activity will stop. Now, the ones that are not showing as members of the CFSA, I suggest (honestly) calling and asking if they are members of the CFSA. Some storefronts have just become members. They may not be on the list. They may be on the list; however, using a different name. For example, Quick Cash is listed as their corporate name of QC Holdings. So, it's worth a shot giving them a phone call and seeing if they are indeed members of the CFSA. If you feel more comfortable calling the corporate office of the storefronts and asking, by all means, call the corporate office. That's what I did. Found out they were members of the CFSA, went in, invoked the EPP, and am paying in 4 payments to get it paid off. Now, if they are NOT members of the CFSA, see if you can set up payment arrangements with them. Some storefronts will hold it for 30 days to give you time to pay. Some will say they have to turn it in to your bank and have it returned NSF before they can set up a payment plan. Some will just hold the check themselves and let you make payments on it without ever turning it in. And others are nasty and say they're turning you over to corporate/collections. Even if they do that, corporate/collections will contact you and you can set up payments with them. Post any questions that you have.

jenni, just remember to go in there BEFORE the loan is due. You can't wait until the day the loan is due. Go before. Okay? And, if you have any questions, or run into any problems, just post!
