1000cashovernight.com/IPS is nuts!

I took out a loan for $200. Before I even discovered they were illegal, my first payment ACH WAS returned--- I just had a mess with ANOTHER payday loan, so it overdrafted me and 1000 couldnt be paid.

I recieved an email from a lady named Precious Wilson-- telling me that I owed them $600. I immediately raised an eyebrow, that was NOT the right amount, and Im NOT paying $600. I replied, asked about their license, etc. She dropped the amount I owed, and told me I could pay only $300. I replied and said no, that was not what I owed, and again, I was never given the license information or a street address. She never replied, but escalated my account to someone else.

Then Chloe Davis emails me. Same thing, but she had a DIFFERENT amount I owed.

Now I get an email from Nicole Martin, who tells me that "this isnt the first request we've received regarding our license and qustioning if the loans are legal in there state. We are very much aware of the online communities and forums on how to get out of paying back your loan, trust me, it doesnt work. The questioning of payday loans always comes from the individuals whom never make a payment and typically comes immediately after they have defaulted on the loan after not having made a payment." Then she tells me they are seeking the $200 plus the $25 NSF for the return of my $50 payment, and then says "YOu are more than welcome to contact the BB, FTC AND your employer and inform them that you borrowed $200 on 11/18/2009 at 2:24 pm using your work computer (insert IP here), and 2 weeks later you tried to get out of paying the debt, also let them know that our company is seeking $225 to be returned to us."

She claims I tried to get ANOTHER loan in December with another company, which is BS, and then says that is CLEAR they are trying to defraud their company and whoever else would give me a loan, and wants to know why I would get another PDL if I'm so worried about if they are legal or not.

Then she says "we have successfully defended ourselves against others trying to get of the debts; we have taken invididuals to court by way of local attorneys" and tells me they are not ripping me off.

Then the LEGAL department calls me 5 minutes later to tell me they will settle for $275. And they wonder why I keep asking for their license?! They cant even keep their facts straight on what I owe!!!!!!

And, of course, none of them have given me the license information now, and beat aroudn the bush and say it's just because I am trying to not pay my loan.

People question the legality of these companies when they do the math and realize they've paid two or three times the amount that went into their bank account and none of what they paid reduces the principal borrowed.

No one on this forum advocates not paying back what you borrowed, but surely anyone should be able to understand not wanting to pay more than what is legally owed to companies that continue to skirt around the question of their licensure. Who wouldn't be uncomfortable knowing they may have borrowed from someone who may be breaking a few laws?

While hindsight is biting a lot of people here HARD (myself included), looking the other way while approving loans for people in areas where such loans are prohibited by law raises a whole lot more eyebrows than financially desperate people who didn't take the time to read the find print.
