Well, I have been taking steps to get rid of my outstanding payday loans. Have closed my account, written C and D letters, filed complaints with state AG's and BBB and a few with the FTC. I have 12 payday loans. The worst, and stupidest part, is I did this all last year, got the loans I had then all taken care of, and then went back and got these new ones again! I know, I am the dumbest of the dumb. I guess it takes me twice to learn my lesson. Anyway, this time, it has not been as easy as it was last year. Last year I endured several nasty phone calls, and that was about it. Now that I have defaulted on all of them, I am getting constant calls which I don't even bother to answer. Some leave messages, and most recently, last Thursday, I was called by "Lighthouse Recovery Associates", evidently a collection agency that Kenwood and Huskhawk (who I believe are one and the same company), have turned me over to. I have typed out my DV letter, and will send it CMRRR in the morning. What do I do next with them? And will this agency actually sue me?

I started getting calls from them for SSM and Ashland which I think is the same set up sister companies with different names. I told them that I filed a complaint with the attorney general's office and sent a DV letter a little over a week ago. So far no calls whatsoever. In my DV letter I cc'd the AG's office.

Will let you know what I find out.

First of all, I know I have 2 outstanding pdl's that i'm taking care of but I just received a call from lighthouse recovery at work calling to verify employment and they had left a msg with an acct #, unfortunately the acct # wasn't clear on the VM, so when my boss called back, he told them he didn't get the whole acct #, so they asked for my name, which my boss gave and they still could not pull it up, the collector then asked if my boss could fax over info, of course he said NO and that our fax didn't work, it actually is down right now, so I then got on the phone, he said he was trying to pull up my acct and if he couldn't get it he would need my ss# I told him well you left a msg on my job vm and left an acct # that wasn't clear, so if you have that much shouldn't you be able to pull me up by name? I told him I'm not giving my ss# out. He then said that if he can't pull it up it probably went to the attorney to sue me, he then proceeded to say they will come to my job, I told him, first, how is this possible when you haven't even sent me any validation, not even in the mail and you can't pull me up in the system? So I then asked him what is it for and he said probably a payday loan, so he's just going to ASSUME it's for a pdl???? I then told him "first of all you can't sue anyone without going through the courts first so don't use your threats with me" as i proceeded to talk I told him to shutup and listen to me, he kept talking over me and told me to shutup and started to yell at me which is against fdcpa, so I told him F*** you and hung up. Since I have no validation and he CLAIMS they don't send any in the mail, that is what he said, how can I send a cease letter with no info????? or should I just ignore it? I don't want these ppl to keep calling my job and they can't give me any info. I'm in Wisconsin and they are located in CO. What can they legally due if this is a true collection??

Shazzers,

Although we are good friends he is still the boss and owner and I wouldn't want to ask him to do that, but I do trust that he will/does use HIS best judgement. I know if it continues he may at some point and time tell them to stop. Our company phones are cell phones and to begin with, I'm not sure how they got his line as I use our main number (customer service line) for everything.

i had the same situation with them, i dealt with a Patty Smith who told me i had until 5pm that day to call her. i called her back she was very nasty to me and demanded that she speak with my payroll dept. i refused to let her , she basically told my she would repeatedly call my job in an attempt to not only embarass me but to verify my employment. i hung up again , she kept true to her word and called 6 times i kept hanging up. I went on the BBB and they have 44 complaints against them and received a rating of an F they are alson not accredited. Needless to say i had no choice but to pursue legal action.
