Internet PDL in South Carolina
Date: Mon, 08/02/2010 - 07:23
I'm in the vicious PDL cycle and I am ready to put an end to this mess. I'm in South Caroina and I have 4 PDL's. Three that I applied for and 1 that just showed up in my bank account. I need some help to find out if these companies are licensed in my state. I also need help on how to handle this without closing my bank account. I'm still on chexsystem so a new account will not be opened for me if I close my existing one. Any help will be appreciated.
Here is my info: Borrower: Paid:
Lakota $300.00 $360.00
Loanpoint $400.00 $480.00
QXL $200 $304.00
Star Processing $250.00 $150.00
Thanks in advance for your help!
Lakota is a tribal loan and in no means is legal in your state.
Lakota is a tribal loan and in no means is legal in your state. They are not licensed to lend PDLs in your state.
QXL and Star Processing are online payday lenders. Most online PDLs don't abide by the state specific laws. And many of these online PDLs are scams.
Sorry, I don't have a clear knowledge about Loanpoint. May be someone from the community will give details about them too.
Remember that your state laws make it necessary for the PDL lenders to be licensed with the Department Of Consumer Affairs of your state. So, all these PDLs are illegal in your state. Don't pay a dime more. On the contrary, you can ask for a refund!!!

I am uncertain about Star Processing but my best guess would be, they aren't legal either.
As far as QXL, someone please enlighten me because I have stated this over and over again, as far as I can tell QXL is not a payday lender, they are an agent who takes the applications and locates a payday lender for the customer.

Thanks so much for the help... Now a couple more questions. I have opened a new bank account and will close my existing account. All 4 PDL debited last night, but there weren't any funds so I now am overdrafted $140.00. I will clear that up and close account. My question is they didn't get my payment so when does the phone harrassment begin? I'm going to send letters/emails to all, but I have to wait until I get my account cleared and closed. What do I need to expect to happen from here.
Thanks!

I too live in SC. Follow Shazzers advice, file complaints with te SC attornet general, BBB and FTC. send revocation letters along with a copy of SC pday laws. Even if they are liscensed, they can only charge 15$ per $100 and they know that so fight, let them know that you know the law and they will back off. I closed my bank account and was actually refunded some interest but I had already paid back the principal plus hundreds more in interest.
