Many of us have been through what you are going through now. I even had someone call me and ask me what was a good time to "serve me papers at my work". No kidding! I once had a message saying I had until 5 oclock to call them back to make payment arrangements. They will say anything to get you to call back so they can badger you for money.

I had the collection agency for Eastside Lenders harass me for over 6 months.

As Paul said, just ignore them.

Also previous employeer calls me everyday to tell me they have received another call. So embarrassing. But it all comes down to who is real???????? Who is really coming after me???

just by the message.if they bring up the following.

1)fraud,or theft
2)a case against you in court
3)demand for an immediate call,or else

btw your references can,and should file police reports as well, and they can inform the bottomfeeders that they are,or they can just blow off the call as a piece of garbage calling.it works either way.

Tell your references that you are being illegally hounded and ask that they not give out any information. Only time will fix this. They will soon tire of calling, especially if you tell them you are filing complaints.

You've done a fabulous job of getting out from under your pdls. You now can pay your legitimate bills. Take comfort from that. This shall pass.

Thanks paulmergel,I am going to google them this am. I literally spent 95% of my day yesterday on this stuff,....way too much time. I was mentally and physically drained. The only positive side to my day was the information I received from you and otheres yesterday, you gave me a lifeline and I am so appreciative. Hopefully today is better. Thanks again I will google them,

Liss, I wish I could changed my number, but now its so far widespread affecting previous employer and references home cell that I cant change my life. I so wish I could though! I just dont understand, and I know I have said this so many times, but how the FTC can not stop this. In the process of 3 months I myself have filed atleast 100 complaints!!!! Sometimes I file 2 or 3 a day, all different numbers.

Somehow I don't think payday loans are a priority of the FTC. Maybe it would be more productive if when we file complaints to also write complaint letters to our elected representatives along with our attorneys general. I don't think the payday loan people shake in their boots when we complaint to FTC.

true, true the FTC needs an ungodly number of complaints, but they do eventually act.case in point.the heathmill group a UK group of pdl's that included BIG LTD,ROUTE 66,AND GFSIL.all are gone and ordered shut down.it took over 3yrs and again an ungodly number of complaints.if these places are not located in THE US then AG'S really can't do anything either.

I sometimes wonders what happens to all my complaints once I file them, does anyone really look at them??? Just looking at these boards people are being flooded with these calls every day and even the callblocks dont work on the phones. They are able to by pass the systems with zeros and oversee numbers that cant be blocked. Only 1 call yesterday....we will see what today holds

You need to know that this is a huge SCAM, and pay no attention to their threatening tone. Hang up when they call! They can't hurt you. I have had at least 20 of these calls in the last month.... a man or woman with a hard to understand
accent on the line, saying that I must immediately call their lawfirm
about a pending lawsuit against me, for non-payment of loans.
They want you to send them money. DON'T BE INTIMIDATED BY THESE
SLIME.! It is a trick to get you to send them money....Very common, I
have read that many people are experiencing the same calls.

My father (87 years old) received a similar call, with someone saying that
they have information about a "murder case" that he was involved in back
in1976! And told him he needed to call their lawfirm to talk about a settlement to hush them up....My father has never been involved in anything illegal ..let alone
murder..and obviously this is a prank call. Perhaps these crooks find people in People Finder and see their age...they see someone is elderly and use that to their advantage, hoping their memory is gone, or they are completely gullible.

IGNORE IGNORE THEM and DON'T GET SUCKED IN!!! Nobody has a right to threaten, intimidate or even call you on your private phone to harass you
in any way!

.

Don't let them get to you. That's how they win. I would talk to whoever called 1 time and 1 time only. I would ask that they send me something in writing. I would NEVER confirm or deny anything, especially ss#, address, employer #, etc. After that one conversation, I won't talk to them again. If they're legit, you'll get something in the mail that you will have an opportunity to dispute/validate. If not, they'll keep calling and harrassing you. If you ignore them, it will stop. Once they come to the realization that they aren't going to be getting any money from you, they'll go away.

I've received 2 of these calls myself. If you listen, you will see that it is a recorded message - they have the exact same tonal infelction, verbal fillers, pauses, etc.

From what I've seen online, it's a scam. I called the number they gave - (213) 478-0041 again today, and actually got a live person. They claimed they were looking for someone else, not me (I have no outstanding debt/collections). I told them I was reporting the matter to the authorities, and turning over the voicemail recordings. Today I filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, and recommend you do the same.

Here's the link: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

Best of luck, whatever you do, don't give them any personally identifiable information!

VB, I think you are right it def. seems like a pre recorded message as I have a few saved and they all say the exact same thing and as you said they all have pause at the same time etc.... I also called back this week and when I did they asked the phone number I told them and they asked if I was so and so and it wasnt me. But they have called 2 times since that conversation so I have no idea. I believe from the help of this forum that it is a scam as well. I filed my complaints and you would think if enough of us do maybe they could do something. I wonder if everyday who ever gets calls posts the number and all of us file complaints that day if the FTC would finally do something. I have no idea how many people are on this site daily but just a thought. Thanks for your input. This is such a great site that offers so much help for all of us, its so comforting to know that we are not alone!
