I read someone else's similar post on here, and also on the internet when I posted the phone number this call came from (949-270-1901). I received a call on Memorial Day (so over a week ago) from someone with a heavy Middle Eastern accent (hard to understand) basically threatening me (or my attorney) that I should call him back or "I would not like what was going to unfold upon me." Meanwhile in reading up on this phone number, it is a law firm (or someone posing as one or a collection agency) trying to collect for a US National Bank (they do not exist) on old PDLs. Now the other poster had an old loan with Sonic Cash, as did I, back in 2003 or 2004. I am assuming that's what they're calling about. I have not called them back and frankly they have never tried me back again. I haven't heard from Sonic since 5/04 when they tried to do a wage assignment and failed (I was being garnished at the time for child support and a Ch. 13 bankruptcy so my employer wouldn't allow it, fortunately :) Anyways, I've read this is a scam and that's why I haven't called them back. Can I just ignore this? I live in Wisconsin. I believe that Sonic is illegal (here and maybe everywhere??) Thanks for any replies!

US national bank is a made up entity by
bottom feeder collection agencies.did you pay
sonic in full?if so you can do what you must
to stop the calls short of answering them.all
the foreign man or woman will do is lie, lie, lie
some more.you won't be arrested,you didn't commit fraud.all they can do is threaten you.it
means nothing.

No, this was never paid in full. I closed my bank account back in 2004 as I had bigger worries back then (like paying my child support and my Ch. 13 bankruptcy Trustee). Should I call this firm back? If so, is there a way to record the conversation? I'm not afraid of their threats, but if this really is about Sonic--aren't they illegal? That's why I'm asking, do I even need to respond to this at all? Thanks again!

I received the same call from the same phone on Tuesday 6/3/08 that I was being charged with federal crime, fradulent and so on. This was with a loan I took out in 2005 with BMG (Bahama Marketing Group). I closed the account and BMG sent my loan to collection (1st Credit) who I paid in 2006. In 2006 this company called and threatened me and I called BMG and had them clear it up. Never heard another thing until Tuesday. All they wanted was my attroney's information, and read a statement to me. I call BMG with this company and had BMG talk to them. Of course the guy would not stop saying I was in trouble and going to be arrested. The BMG rep tape recorded the call and was to pass on the information. Yesterday I received another call from 856-831-0640 and they gave me their return number as 949-612-0089. They wanted to know if I had an attrony yet and I said no. They informed me that someone would show up at my work today 6/5/08 a legal team, and would take me to whatever court of law I an supppose to go to. They wouldn't give me anymore information. I hate this and I don't see why people can do this. The guy didn't even care that I had paid the loan...his records said I didnt. One thing the BMG guy told me is these people have been in trouble with the government and just keep changing their name. Of course I am at work just waiting for someone to show up.

lilly.

Well I learned long ago back in the days when I had alot of collections going on that when a collector called me at work posing as an attorney and threatening me, I wasn't going to take it. They DO go away eventually. They use illegal tactics in the hopes that "someone" will actually pay them some $$. It's not going to be me.

They haven't called me again since 5/26 ... so since I didn't "bite," I'm hoping they just disappear. Plus, any home phone they would have had for me from 2004 is long gone. I also find it odd that they never called on a regular work day ... they left a message on a holiday (Memorial Day). Too weird!
