Hi I'm new, I have way toooo many payday loans. I read on here where you say that in Ohio the payday lender must allow you to make payments. Can some point that fact out to me. I tried reading the Ohio Check Casher law, but its over my head and I can't actually "see" where it says that. Also if I clos my checking account can the bank get me for bouncing checks after the account is close? I see posts that say don't close your checking account too...So I'm starting to think there is no way out!

Thanks Reny:)

I will post the laws for Ohio here (just select your state), imn the mean while please post for us
Who you have loans with
how much you have borrowed from each lender
How much you have paid back to each in total. add the fees and principle to get one total for each lender. Are your loans store front or internet?
When we get the info , we can begin to help you.

Please don't feel there is no hope! Many of us were in the same situation. Please give us a little more info to work with and I am sure we can give you some suggestions. Are these internet or store front loans??
How much was each one for? And how much has been taken/paid on for each one, payments and/or fee's included. There are different things you can do depending on what you are working with...if nothing else there are a few consolidation companies that can help you also. Please post the info...we have several people here from Ohio that I am sure will be glad to help.

well let's see I have:
payday usa- 650-
Payday1-575-
payday select -450-
National Check cashers- 800
Check Smart -687
Express Payroll advance- 575
CashNet 900

I'm not sure what you mean about how much has you paid, I make payments on the Usa and Select every 2 weeks on payday. I re-borrow the Express, National, Cashnet, Check Smart. The payday1 rolled from paydayok, and I've not made a payment on that yet.

Thank you for posting the law but I don't understand it. Do they have to accept payments from me? How long do I have before they could file a civil suite? Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it:)

Try to keep yourself calm and we can work through this...as I said before there are a lot of poeple here from Ohio. Please list them and tell us which are internet loans or are they all store fronts?? If you have been paying on them every pay day list how much you have paid all together...add up all the fees for each one into a lump sum.

The thing is you need to call the store fronts and try to make payment arrangements first...many of them won't until you default and miss a payment...and then at least the interest should stop adding up too. With internet loans you will have to close your account and open a new one at a different bank...99% of the time that is the only way you can stop them from sending through their debits. Take it one step at a time and we will help you along the way.

Lren-I live in Ohio too. I had my bank put my checking account on CREDIT ONLY status. Meaning NO DEBITS OR CHECKS can come through without my permission. I did it that way so that my direct deposit wont get rejected. So now only deposits can go into my account and all those internet PDL companies cant get my money no matter what name they use. As for your storefront loans, I suggest calling them immediately. Some are open 24 hours so you might be able to get in touch with someone right now. But hurry up and explain the situation with them BEFORE they try to cash the checks and you end up with all these bounced checks. Majority of the Internet PDL's are illegal/unlicensed. Meaning worry about paying them last! When you have the money to give it to them. The store fronts are different. They have a license to lend so make arrangements with them ASAP. They will work with you.

Can I ask what bank you use? I have Chase. So you think if I call before they are due, they maybe won't cash them? That would be very helpful. I would think that if a person is trying to be honest and really serious about paying them off they would work it out. Its not that I don't want to pay them. I do. You know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean. We are all here for the same reason. I was so scared to tell my bank about my situation. It turned out that I didnt have to tell them about the mess I got myself into at all. All I told them was that there was some unauthorized transactions on my account and that I contacted the Ohio Division of Finance and they advised me to close the account. The girl gave me no problems closing it and opening a new one. I bank with Commerce but then again I work for them too.

I would call the store and try to work something out so they dont cash the checks. They might just give you an extension. Im not sure because I was too scared to bounce those checks and used Internet PDL's to pay them off. Thats how I got in this mess. If they arent willing to accept payment on your terms, then you really dont have much of a choice but to close the account. Otherwise the internet PDL's are going to take your money too. And then you will have no paycheck and a bank account in the negative from all the bouncing that will occur. But make sure you verify with your bank that they will not "force" your account back open if a debit comes through after you close it. Right now your biggest concern is repaying the storefront loans. Lets get through those loans first and then worry about the Internet ones. OK.
