Lazer Lending... phone call
Date: Wed, 11/07/2012 - 12:13
This afternoon I got a phone call from someone claiming to be the Court Marshall for my city. She said she had a court summons for me. She gave me information, and at first led me to believe that it was my bank who issued the summons. I told her there is no way they issued anything as I have been in that bank almost every day for the past month trying to resolve my account being compromised. She changed her tune a bit and finally led it to be about Lazer Lending and another of their affiliates SGQ.
For a court marshall, she had an awful lot of information about those loans!
I finally asked her if those two companies were licensed to do business in Maine. Told her my bank account was closed when they noticed PayDay activity that is illegal in Maine, and I also got a list of licensed lenders from Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection, and they were not on that list. She told me that one company is licensed in 30 states, the other in 20 states. She then asked if I called the Attorney General office.
I hung up from her and called the number she gave me...I left a message.
I called my local Sheriff, and they did not have this woman's name on the list. They show no summons for me either.
She just called back to say the attorney was in her office now, and I should call back again.
My question (after all that! LOL) is..
Neither Lazar Lending or SGQ is listed on Maine's list. But Check N Go is. She did name Check N Go as being licensed. Does that mean they all are if one is?
Thanks.

Thank you
After I left a message, the first lady called back to tell me that the "attorney" was in her office and I could call her back.
I did call back, and listened and explained....my bank closed the account because payday loans are illegal in my state.
Long story short, she asked me to call that other lady back again and I told her I can't, she didn't give me any contact info. She was very surprised to hear that.
She was supposed to send me emails outlining options etc, but that was a while ago and no emails so far.
No one legit calls you to tell you that you are getting summoned
