Hi everyone, I need some help. I need to file a BBB report on The LOan Shop. I have paid them $520 on a $400 loan, sent them the "PIF Letter" and the "C&D Letter" via email and I am still getting rude and threatening phone calls. I searched in the search box on this site and found it mentioned they are in delaware, but couldn't find an actual address. Does anyone know their address? I know the phone is 866-669-3430. Also, when filing the BBB complain do I complain about the harrassment or just the illegal loan? I'm new to the BBB complaints. Any advice would be appreciated. THANKS!

I would complain about both and also file with your state attorney general and also there AG as well. And also the FTC. You might want to get an NACA attorney and sue them for harrassment as well. Most states have laws to protect you against those sorts of things. Many lawyers will take those cases on contingency!

Also notify them that they owe you a refund for overpaying on the loan. If you tell them you notified your AG's office, filed the complant with the BBB, FTC you will probably woll get the refund and your loand marked "Paid in full"I received from them a large refund last year. You might want to try it.

They are also known as Westbury Ventures and Northbay Ventures. I too have been dealing with them harrassing me. His name is Kenneth Combs, once he sent me an email, I kept sending about 50 times my cease and desist letter and that I was filing with the NJ AG and BBB. I have not heard from him now in almost 2 weeks. I did google the Loan Shop/aka Westbury ventures and a lot came up on this company. There is a website that was created for a lawsuit against this company, it is westburyventuresscam.com and most of the names that cannr mentioned all is listed on this site.

I had overpaid $960 to the loan shop and when I sent the letter via email they came back with refund of $300 I said I wanted at least $500 and it to be sent via fedex. I received it within 2 days. Here is the email address of the person that offered me the settlement wmashburn(at)ltsmanagement.com I would send the letter directly to that email address.

Kolodin.....I tried westburyventurescam.com and they never responded to me. Did you try to contact them?

This thread makes me wonder a little bit. I had a $300 loan with Loan Shop. I paid them $540 myself, and only today found out my dad (who was listed as a reference) had paid them $370 to make them go away, bringing it up to a total of $910 on the $300 loan. I'm wondering if I should go after them for a refund. Not so much for the extra money I paid, but to get my dad's money back.

Or do I just let sleeping dogs lie?

If I were in your situation I would send the letter. After reading things on this website I see that they like to hide and then come back. If you do not have anything saying it is paid in full I would try to get it and it would not hurt to ask for the refund. This is just my opinion though.

MJM No never received a reply back to my email from westburyventuresscams. I sent several to that mannie on the website. I have not heard back from The Loan Shop but I am pretty sure from what I have read about them that they will be back. I believe they are operating out of the country, even though they have addresses listed in Delaware, has anyone heard of another address. Most of their names that were listed on my old bank statements were Canadian, for example The Loan Shop-Alberta, The Loan Shop-Viking(Northbay Ventures), etc. a woman by the name of Lapanda Mason I called at one time and you know that beep and the weird ring you get when its out of the US, has anyone heard that they might be out of the US? Thanks

I just got this from them, But I am going to fight for a refund too. Hit them where it hurts, their ACH Processor. It is Missouri Bank and Trust. They were not much help but they did a three way call and the woman agreed to mark me PIF.

Per our conversation earlier your loan has been paid in full as of today, also your account was set up to be debited in the amount of $90.00 on 5/5/08 because we process all payments 3 business days prior to your due date I was not able to stop this transaction but I will sending you a $90.00 refund out. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding your account please call me at the number listed below. Thanks

All that I can say about The Loan Shop is that I "had" a loan with them 4 years ago... I paid the principal and the fee/percentage allowed in the State of FL. I never heard from them back until Nov. '07 when they started debiting $75, $50, $55 at different times and of course different amounts.
My bank has reversed the fees (thank God), but everytime that I think that I am done with them, PAM!!! Another ACH from them... different amount. My bank has urged me to close the account to avoid these debits, because a "Stop payment" doesn't work since they use different amounts every time.
I can't afford to close my account, since I have my utilities, car payment, etc... tied to this account and it will mean that I have to change everything for one stupid collector.
It has taken them over 3 years to come after me... so I hope that they give up soon and I can keep my account. **fingers crossed***

This is the reply that I got from a rep at loan point usa, which if I remember right, is Loan Shop:

Dear. Angela
We do not make payment arrangements, you must pay your minimum payment on your scheduled due date. Since your account is closed, I suggest that your open a new account or pay off the loan by sending a Money Gram or Western Union . We do not accept payments by mail. If neither is an option, then your account will be transferred to collections? If you have any other questions or need any other assistance regarding this matter please contact customer service. Our office hours are Monday thru Friday 8:00 to 5:00 pm central time
Sincerely,

Kristine Roddy

And this is what I just emailed her in reply to that grabage she sent me:

Kristine,

Apparently you did not read the document I sent you. The only thing by law I am required to pay you is the $200 your company lent me. I am not going to open another account so your company can rob me blind. I will not send money Western Union or Moneygram...only money order. If you guys would like some money to pay off this account, then I suggest you provide me with a mailing address. You may send this account to collections, but your company will still not receive anything more than the principle amount you let me borrow to begin with, as your company is not legal/licensed and should never have loaned anything to me to begin with. All I legally owe your company is $140, nothing more. I have filed copmlaints with the BBB, FTC and the TN state Attorney General's office. I was hoping to resolve this amicably, so if you feel you can do that, then please provide your address so I can get this matter resolved.

Thank you,
Angela

Angie, I appreciate your comments, and I have been thinking about changing account $s, but it is an inconvenience, and as long as my bank puts the money back ito the account, I will be OK. It they bank forced the issue, then I will have to coply and change accounts. RIght now my case is with the ACH Fraud Unit, so hopefully, they can help, if not I will get a new account with them.

can you help me understand "overpayment"? i have a 300 dollar loan. is that all i'm obligated to pay back? they way i understood, they said my total payback will be 345. if i don't pay 345 in full, then i have to pay a 45 dollar extension fee. if i continue to just pay that and nothing towards my principal, is that overpaying? i'm just trying to understand how do you overpay an amount of 960 on a 400 dollar loan. can someone help? thanks. :-)

Licensee Database

Complaint Instructions Note: File complaints with Department of Consumer Affairs, through State Board of Financial Institutions is the regulator

So, loans ARE legal in your state....the next thin we need to figure out if this company is licensed, and I am pretty sure they are not. If "loanshoponline" is actually Loan Shop, then no, they are NOT legal or licensed. I'm not sure on what that means...if they have to follow your state laws....I believe all you would legally owe them is the principle amount borrowed. If I am wrong, I hope someone will be along to correct me....

Are they debiting your account? If you are possitive you have NEVER applied for a loan EVER, then you might want to consider looking into a possible Identity theft problem. Otherwise, this company goes by several different names, so it could have been a number of different pdl's.

This is some BS!!!! All the people's name that are on this site are EX-LOAN SHOP EMPLOYEES!!!!! The real # IS 1 800 757 0122!!! THE REAL PEOPLE IN CHARGE ARE: John Kimball, is babrie doll wife Rachael Kimball-NOT COOPER, Sam Forseth, and I forgot the rest of them sharks names, but being an ex employee I suggest yall contact the BBB ASAP. This company MAY BE BASED out of Delaware but they are LOCATED in DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY, MO, and yes they go by WESTBURY VENTURES (and they FIRED all the collectors in that division), VIKING, and give me a few days and I'll have PLENTY MORE INFO***********INCLUDING MORE NAMES!!!!!!!!

These guys rolled over two loans to me despite my efforts to pay them back, to the tune of $6300. I am in California and have just found out that they are not licensed to operate in CA and are not allowed to loan the amount they have and are not by law allowed to rollover loans at all PERIOD. They suddenly stopped debiting my account thank god but are now trying to get me to reactivate a new loan even though they have a Cease and Desist Order from the State of California. I am suing for the whole $6300 and anything else I can get as punitive damages. Wish me luck!
