Hi,

I live in WA state with a fairly good job but I got hit recently with a financial crisis and STUPIDLY got myself in the PDL trap. Yes, I know. I regret ever signing up for this garbage but we know how desperation drives people to dumb actions.

Anyway, it was only 3(!) organizations, one local storefront and two internet(CashNetUSA) and AIP. I've dealt with the local storefront people with an EPP and they are being cool about paying the thing down, and CashNetUSA is being more or less reasonable. AIP on the other hand never seems to return my calls! I work weird hours so they'll call me once and I have no luck reaching the "person who handles my loan." Funny how the person who answers the phone line is psychic and knows just who I am by my first name. Wonder if they have caller ID?

Anyway, I'm trying to get them to not auto-rollover my loan again(I've already paid a couple times) and am fed up with trying to get these people to listen to me. I bank with Wells Fargo and put a ACH freeze on AIP's debits yesterday(my payment due date is Friday) for 89 and 289 dollars, just because there's no way I should be obligated to pay these people that full amount when I already made reasonable effort to get them to pay it off and not keep bleeding me w/ interest.

Does anyone have any specific experience with AIP AND Wells Fargo? I already got hit with NSF fees that I paid off due to this PDL mess and my record with them probably isn't really great and I'm worried that they won't let me close/open my account and I'm pretty sure that stopping the exact merchant name and amounts AIP provides isn't going to provide me the full protection I need. Do they d/b/a under other names/amounts? I'm just worried that they'll raid my account for other amounts or some other name. I'm not 100% sure Wells Fargo can block all this and closing my account will be a real hassle.

Thanks for the help in advance.

len, I've dealt with AIP. It sounds as though you haven't paid them in full yet, which is fine. Blocking them might work for a bit, but nothing is promised. Do this - file a complaint with the BBB on them. AIP responds to the BBB fairly quickly and you can get this resolved. I swear, they were the first ones that I got resolved when I was working on my pdls. Please file with the BBB and see what AIP responds to them.

Only problem is, putting a freeze on aip debits wont really work. As soon as a debit is returned, they will go in and use another name to debit your account with. We strongly reccommend closing your account. And opening another at a new bank. It is really the only safe way. Unless you put a hard debit block on your account which will not let any debits at all go thru.

I found some of the laws but that helps a bit. I've been doing a lot of research on this stuff. Too bad it was AFTER I made my mistake.

You guys are the best. I hope I can stave them off for a few days while I see if I can convince the branch manager at the credit union I have savings with to give me a checking account(of course, this NSF activity may have jeopardized that).
