I am in New York City and finding this site was what made em aware that PDLs are illegal here. I am so grateful for finding this site. Now here is my situation.
I currently have 6 PDL's that I have been paying back for about 2 months now, I need it to stop.
LoanPoint USA, $500 loan, $785 paid
Payment Direct, $200 loan, $356 paid
EastSideLenders, $500 loan, $585 paid
Lakota Cash, $375 loan, $460 paid
Manhattan processing $200 loan, $180 paid
Liberty Group, $200 loan, $180 paid
So as you can see, I have paid in full and overpaid the first four loasn listed and owe $20 on the last two. I am in the process of taking the steps that our outlined here and I am going to my bank to close or put a hard hold on my account. I will be sending letter demanding a refund for the amount that I overpaid for each loan. For the last two, how should I go about paying off the $20 for each one since they will no longer have access to my account when I close my account?

The most common ways to pay off the balance on these types of loans is to:
a) get the company's physical address and mail a money order or certified check (drawn on a different bank than your own), or
b) get a cheap, pre-paid debit card and give them the card information for payment

Ok thanks, and what is the best way to go about requesting a refund? I know chances are I may not get one.
Also, as for the sample letter in the forum. In the section that says to include my state's PDL law, do I just put that it is illegal in New York?

Yes, just cite that pdls are prohibited in the state of NY. And yes, just state that you'd like a refund of the amount you've paid, over the principal. Be persistent about it. You may or may not get it but, it's always worth asking.

Tell them to send you a check.
Make sure, if you get one, that you don't deposit it into your new account. :D Cash it and deposit the cash!
