How typical of this outfit to send an e-mail making it sound like the State of Maryland is trying to take away peoples' rights!! The last line says if you respond to the email you're giving CashnetUSA the right to send your response to the elected Maryland representatives; hmmmm, maybe we should all send them our comments how it's a good thing Maryland is getting after them; wonder if they'd send THOSE comments to our elected officials? ;)
Interesting sidenote from the Maryland Consumer Rights coalition
Interesting sidenote from the Maryland Consumer Rights coalition; the PDL lenders' lobbyists are saying if Maryland closes the loopholes re. CSO's, that people will be forced to turn to overseas lenders; however, many of the US PDLs' - INCLUDING CashnetUSA - run PDL operations overseas! Are these outfits good at double-talking and lying or what?

the state of wa just passed new legislations regarding payday lenders and they have to be licensed in the state of wa department of finance data base and if they are not the loan you have out with them is null and void. send them a certified letter asking for this license number and if they have one then the debt is owed however if they don't have one in the state data base then the loan was illegal in the first place....this is what these payday lenders do not want. there are legal ones that people can go to and they have to offer you a payment plan..it is more consumer oriented..too bad the law isn't stricter.

Well Scubapal, First Bank of Delaware is not a payday lender. You can check out the discussion related to FBD.

FBD does actually provide payday loans, the only way to know for certain is to check your original contract, if you don't have the original contract you will have to take their word for it.

Do you want Washington DC politicians making financial decisions for you and your family?
United States Senator Christopher Dodd from Connecticut has introduced Senate Bill 3217 that, if passed into law, could limit your short-term options for everyday money needs. This bill is scheduled to be heard on Monday, April 26th. Let your voice be heard!
We need to let the Washington DC politicians know that the potential creation of a new agency in the bill threatens your access to credit.
Your United States Senators’ contact information is listed below; please call or fax your US Senator with the following message – or you can use this link to send an email directly to your Senators’ offices:

Dear Senator _______________,
I understand that Congress is taking a closer look at short-term loans and how they work. As a short-term loan customer, I understand the fees and loan term associated with my loans. And I choose these loans to cover unexpected short-term financial needs. They are faster, cheaper and I qualify for them, unlike other products.
While I appreciate you reviewing these products, I ask that you make sure the decisions you make don’t eliminate them as an option for me.
Without short-term lenders, I would have nowhere else to go.
If you really want to help me, one of your constituents, please make sure you actually help. Thank you.
Sincerely,
(Please provide your name and address)"
I do hope they pass the bill!

If I WERE going to write to my Senators here in Maryland for any reason, I would hope I'd be able to compose a more professional-sounding letter than this one! And, yes, I'm "Sure" I'm going to send a letter to my Senators asking that we be allowed to have PDL's. ;)
