I live in Mississippi. I got divorced in 2009 and began taking out storefront payday loans to stay afloat. As of today I have FIVE storefront pdls ($400/each) and 2 internet pdls (United cash loans ($390) & 500FastCash ($670)). For the first time in over two years I paid none of them on payday. They of course have called endlessly on my cell, office phone, home, parents, friends, coworkers. I get paid monthly, on the 15th of each month, I am sick to my stomach, irritable, and not myself every payday due to having to go renew all storefront pdls and seeing nothing but the interest fly out of my account every month on the internet based loans. I will never be able to pay all of these off @ one time. How do I find out my rights in my state? How do I find out if the online companies are lisenced in MS? I want to pay my debt but I need to make payments monthly, I can't pay them all off at one time. Please offer your suggestions on what I can call/write them to allow payments.

Also, should I stop payment on all storefront pdls so they cannot keep running check through my account? Should I get a debit block for the internet pdls?

This is so frustrating, I need peace of mind with this and I am afraid it is going to be a long while before I can have it.

Payday lending is legal in Mississippi. In order to find out whether or not payday lending is legal in your state, you can contact Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance. As far as I know, normally the storefront pdls are legal in the state and you will be liable for paying the principal balance along with the fees and other finance charges. So, rather than stopping the payments, you should go for a payday loan consolidation in order to get rid of your debts.
