I have defaulted on a payday loan and I was wondering if the loan was legal to begin with. Florida's maximum loan amount is $500 and I borrowed $900. Of course, this happened before I read articles on this forum. I haven't paid anything so far, but my account is closed. Do I just owe them the $500? Or the $900? Help!

Do as soaplady says, they are illegal and cannot do anything to you. FL closed its CSO loophole a few years ago so unless they have a license they are illegal.
