Hi everybody,
Hi just signed up for this site and I live in Maryland. About 2 months ago I lost my job and was behind on bills and was trying to play catch with with 5 storefront loans 4 in DC and 1 in VA.
I eventually stopped paying because of all the rollovers I was getting behind on my other more important bills and didn't have anytime to go to the stores everyweek to pay.
I have been receiving calls from Money Mart I owe them $345 I want to pay them at the end of the month with a money order but they said they wont accept money orders, the only accept ACH debit or Credit Card(which I dont have, thats another story). I had to close my bank account and open a new one due to overdrafts caused by payday loans. What should I do? How can I Convince the storefronts to accept money orders and my payment plans. I contacted Advance America but they wouldn't accept a payment plan.
Please Help Thanks.

With Advance America I am assuming that you already defaulted with them. Otherwise you could have gone in on you due date or before and asked for the payment plan they offer. But with the storefronts I have defaulted on I always had to go back into the storefront with cash to pay them. But if need be, then do as Morning says, go get a pre-paid card or a visa gift card and only put the amount you need on the card and they will accept that as long as it has the visa or mastercard logo on it. Heck, now Advance America is offering pre-paid credit cards, hmmm..is that so you can get a loan put right on the card instead of them giving you cash :x But thats another story.

If the storefront Advance will not work with you then you need to contact someone higher up and keep climbing that ladder until you get someone who will work with you. All you have to do is tell them your situation and they should make some kind of payment plan. Keep on them, eventually they will give in. They did for me.

I have a new rule now and it goes like this either money order or no payment. Sorry I can not afford the overdraft fees. You might want to pass this along to the payday advance company. If they can not or will not understand your new rule, then contact your state attorney general office, the FTC, the BBB and the payday company attorney general office.

I've never heard of someone NOT wanted to accept a Money Order. At least they would get their payment. Also...with a MO, you can 'trace' the payment. So, if the PDL says they never received your payment, you have prove that they did.

Sdchargers, that's probably why they DON'T want a money order, because it CAN be traced! I would think that any legitimate company would be glad to accept a money order for payment. But whatever you do, do NOT give them your new bank information.

Shortyisa10in2008, have you tried contacting the Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation (phone # on this site) about your problem? They've been very helpful to me w/ Internet PDls (PDL's are prohibited in MD), possibly they could give you some suggestions as to what you could do.

Oh..well..that's true. I wasn't really thinking about that. I was just thinking of what the 'debtee' could do.
