Ok guys, it's going on almost 2 months now that my overpaid loans defaulted with Oneclick and United and I haven't heard a peep (knock wood). I mean, NOTHING.

I haven't heard anything back from my AG either.

Now, I'm just throwing this out there, but do you think that the fact that I work in a law firm might have something to do with why they aren't bothering me?

I'm just starting to get a little nervous, and I know they will slither out of the woodwork at some point, but the silence is starting to make me uneasy..

They called me at work and I said I wwas sending a validation request in compliance with the fdcpa. The woman said "why prolong things?" After I sent the letter which also had a cease and desist paragraph they only sent me one more communication by mail. I will post a generic copy of the letter.

Hopefully I will have a similar experience as you. Jen, I know you read mypost today. Thank you for the kind words. I hope for you forewarned is forearmed. If you have to deal with them too and need anything let me know. Roxy

jen, don't feel alone. I'm with you. My MTE's aren't responding the the AG. One Click and USFastCash. I haven't heard from MTE. I figure once they send me to collections (whatever) I'll just send them a debt validation to validate my wonderfully ILLEGAL debt and include copies of the letters from my state AG threatening them with action. And, I don't work for a law firm, so I honestly don't think that has anything to do with it.

Holy crap Roxy. did you give them a peace of your mind??? did they give you the chance to get a word in edgewise? I just don't understand why these people feel they have to be so nasty. If someone was doing to them what they do to us....would they still be doing it? Sorry you had to go through that today...now I know why you needed a couple drinks & ice cream...

LMK, I could not get a word in. I kept trying to talk and I was being nice then she started yelling and telling me not to borrow money if I can't pay it back, finally I said please stop yelling at me and she called me a bi#@!. I called back and got a guy and he was yelling at me and telling me to quit yelling at him which I was not..finally I said Hey- I am not yelling at you..then i yelled at him - this is yelling, have a good day. So yes, I needed alcohol and icecream. I deal with some pretty unsavory characters daily and even they do not treat me like that.

Unbelievable! Thank goodness I haven't had any of those nasty phone calls yet...but I bet they'll be happening soon. I've gotten 3 PIF's so far & a refund. Another accepted my repayment plan of 30.00 per month for the next 4 monthes & they gave me an address to send the money orders to. I think I've been fortunate so far...but w/my luck...i'm sure it won't last long. So sorry again girlie that you had to deal with those jackasses today! Hugs to ya!!! :)

Now do you see why in every post I try to tell people to try DESPERATLY not to take phone calls? This is only going to get you verbally abused and threatened. I know sometimes you get "stuck" with them on the phone. If that is the case, hang up. And I do mean that. Just hang up. If they call again, do not take the call. Send them an email documenting the phone call and repeating to them not to contact you via telephone, but via email or USPS only. This way, you are not being verbally abused, you have documentation of the telephone call, and also documentation that you told them once again to stop communicating via telephone. You need to have documentation of everything. Let them put their abuse and threats in writing. If at all possible, do not take the calls. Hang up on them. I've hung up on plenty. They will resort to email eventually. I'm so sorry for all your abuse, roxy. You do not deserve this kind of treatment. If they want to use foul language and threaten people, they can do it in writing. No telephone calls. I'm so sorry for you about all of this. And for anyone else who goes through this. I think I learned from the first call from one of the overseas companies who called me at work. We got into a major arguement over the laws. It finally clicked in my head "Why the hell am I arguing with this jerk?" So I hung up. Of course he called back. Did I take his call? No. Did he leave a message? No. But did I get an email from him? Yes. Get it in writing. It was a priceless piece of email for one of my complaints. There it was. All nice and illegal in black and white when requested by the government agency. The telephone call would not have been. This proved to be beneficial. So, at any cost, try to not talk to them on the phone.

Turn ARM into the BBB. That is what I did and they said they would have no further contact with me and that the original lender marked me PIF. As far as the other MTE lenders (One Click, ameriloan etc) it took months to hear from them and with those I owed principle on I made arrangements for just the principle and for those I overpaid I was able to get PIF but no refunds. I was hoping the NY AG would help in getting some refunds but I haven't heard a word from them since the Internet Division sent my last submission back over to Consumer Fraud which is where I started months ago.

Just thought I'd update everyone..

Still no word from Oneclick or United Cash. It's been quite a while now, so I'm hoping they did the same for me that they did for Mperez, and marked me paid in full, although I've received no communication to that effect.

Nothing from the AG's office either. Very strange. But I won't be surprised if these snakes jump out of the woodwork soon.

jen, nothing from them at all? Just be cautious. These guys jumped out of the woodwork on me a couple of times. No response even to your AG? Nothing? Now, don't assume (we can hope though!) that they've decided to mark you paid in full and are done with you. These guys will lay low for awhile and then pop back into your life.

MTE finally responded to BBB settling for less than what I owe, and I can send it via money gram, however they never listed a "pay by date" on the letter so I refused the offer and stated that they didn't give me a "pay by date" listed in the letter (and I read it five times).

Arm, however hasn't contacted me in a few weeks (I think almost a month) They always contact me at work, and I tell them i'm not here, and take a message they always say "personal" and I always respond that "she" meaning me.. can't take personal calls. Even my supervisor informed them I can't accept personal calls, this was after I had hung up on them, I waited too long before the computer pick up and human, and they caught me in the process of hanging up on them, then asked for my supervisor. They even called the front desk. Luckily I've been here for 9 years, and informed both the front desk receptionist and supervisor what was going on. I've sent them three letters. I'm waiting for one more phone call and one more letter sent before I contact the BBB and my State's AG. Though I have filed with someone, though can't remember who know, that they violated the FDCA rules and haven't given me a written correspondence within 5 days of first contact (that I have done every time they have called) then they shut up for a few weeks..

I hadn't heard from ameriloan in a couple of months, but first it started with an email. A settlement offer, just click on the link and I could even pick which settlement I could work with. I replied back saying that the offer was unacceptable. They've been finally calling me nonstop. Leaving me messages mostly because I'm always away from my desk. I even sent Oregon Dept of Banking on them, but they didn't respond at all to them.

So they will be contacting you eventually.

So true, poko. They are notorious for laying low for awhile and then popping back up in your face. That's why I always say "be cautious". They are still there. They have not gone away. Unfortunately.
