I have the following loans:

MyCashNow
One Click Cash
Magnum
National PayDay Loan
MyNextDayCash

Are these companies known for calling people at work? Incessantly? Regardless of requests to desist? I work in a field where it would NOT be appropriate for me to receive such calls at work. I can't exactly afford for my personal business to be company business and for me to lose my job. Has anyone had experiences with these companies?
this is the ONE thing keeping me from closing my account and sending the letters....

That is true, but you need a starting point. Trust me, we have all been where you are right now. I had 15 PDLs at one point and got rid of them all. I only received one call at work the whole time, after I warned the lady not to call they never called back again. So I guess it just depends on chance.

What you first need to do is secure your account immediately. That way when you call them or email them you have the ball in your court. Close that bank account and get control of your funds, by glance 99% of your loans are Illegal.

The calls usually start when they cannot get the funds. How much have you paid on these loans so far and what state are you in?

Already done a LOT of my homework. I live in NC (illegal), and they were all internet loans. Here they are:

MyCashNow.com paid 329 (borrowed $380.00)
OneClickCash.com paid 410 (borrowed $300.00)
National-paydayloan.com just renewed- paid 90 in finance fees
magnum installment; paid 252; still owe 252
mynextdaycash.com (I have been paying on this one since March and JUST found out it has only been finance fees...no principle!) paid 900 in finance charges; 0 on priciple (borrowed $300.00)

I have my letters ready; I have contact info for BBB and my local AG. Just remembered I need to get for the FTC...Just scared of the calls at work. I have just contacted my bank to see how I should proceed...I know what they'll say, but I want to be cautious...they closed my previous account and opened new one because there was fraudulent activity from a company I never heard of who had ALL my info.

All advice, especially any that makes me feel more confident, is accepted! Thanks!!

the only way to be safe is to check up on your state laws, and than if allowed to close your account.. it is the only way to stop the maddness.. you already overpaid on many of your loans so i would secure the account and get the letters out :)
most places will stop calling your work if you tell them to but i had a few who harrassed me constantly :( so i guess it depends on the company.

If they are illegal they will call you anywhere! They will harass and threaten you. The will do anything and use all means to try and get you to pay. Think about it, what options do they have??? Being illegal, they cant exactly run out and take you to court.

On the other hand most of the illegal lenders do not follow revoke ach letters or the C&D letters. They do not typically follow the law as they are illegal to begin with.

adriannadrake, the guest was correct and i do not think s/he meant to cause harm.. these companies are illegal and usually do harrass, threaten, etc. in my experience, most do not call work if you tell them not to but they really do make their own rules. i do not think guest meant to discourage you but rather prepare you.
it is your choice if you allow them to take more of your money but they are not legal in your state and many were overpaid, i would seriously close the account and deal with the calls.. my advice on that is to not speak with them and the calls will stop.

The guest that posted in my opinion was not being crude, just honest. As bea2ls said "trying to prepare you". It is better to know what they are capable of before hand than sitting there scratching your head afterward. Dont think they intended to try and make you run and hide.

If you dont try and do something now, and you get evicted from your apartment, you will have the same problem with no where to live. Secure your funds, and pay your rent! You have to start somewhere. As most of your loans are illegal and you have already overpaid some of them, call them and insist your account be marked PIF!

What if you contact the loan companies and tell them you need to update your work numbers as you have a new jo now and give them bogus numbers? Another alternative I have seen suggested in that you tell your bosses that someone has stolen your identity and you are working through that. It may make the whole situation less humiliating.

Is it possible for you to block the calls coming into your work? Some companies has this available.

If not you have 2 choices.....be totally honest with your boss (which I recommend) and explain your situation OR totally lie and say you are a victim of idenity theft and receiving harassing calls.

Since most of your pdls are illegal I would call everyone of them and try to work out a paid in full agreement since you are only obligated to pay the principal amount borrowed.
Most of them you have already overpaid. I think if you are calling them, it will lessen the amount of calls you will receive especially when you BOLDLY tell them you are aware they are illegal.

I already said I knew the person was being honest, but it sucks. I already made it known that I was afraid of this process...I don't need someone making it even harder for me. I know there's a possibility I will be harassed; I know there's a possibility I never hear a thing. We'll wait and see.

I know ALL of my loans are illegal in NC, but I have only overpaid on two of the five...two loans I still owe about $50.00 each and one loan I have JUST started.

I have started filing my complaints with the NC AG, and I will send my emails once I hear back from my bank, as there may be stop payment charges.

I can't close my account right now because there are too many things coming in and out. I'm just going to have to hope that stop payments will work for a few weeks until I can get things transferred to a new account.

*Fingers Crossed!*

I went to my bank and completed "revoke ACH" forms for all of my loans. You have to do this at least 3-4 days before the drafts are due. Then I faxed/e-mailed my letters to them on July 27th. Within 3 days I received a letter and a refund from one of them. The other day I received a phone call at work (on my voice mail) and I never called them back.

I owe 3 of them a balance of $30.00 each (after deducting the original amount less what I paid). In my letter I requested an address where I could mail a cashier's check. I haven't heard from them yet. I owe one $600 (I hadn't paid any "fees" on that one), and requested an address and said that I would pay $100 a month. Haven't heard from them yet. Not even an e-mail.

Let me tell you, once I had the ACHs revoked, I was able to sleep at night. And the refund was a pleasant surprise. I have called ID at work and if I don't recognize the number, I let it go to voice mail.

I will not talk to these people, and life has been good the past week. If you follow the advice here, you too will be able to sleep and smile again.

Good luck.

Make sure you keep copies of the letters you sent revoking the ACH authorizations because sometimes the companies will change the amounts or use a d/b/a name to withdrawl the funds because stop payments only work on exact amounts and names. Then if they try that you will have the letters to prove you revoked the funds and then your bank will have to reverse the debits. Some of these PDL's will try to make a check and pass it through the account wich will get past a stop payment. It happened to me but luckily I work at my bank so I was able to catch it.
