Sorry to be posting about this again, but i'm confused. I got a call from a guy at national credit adjusters. He says they are not a collection agency and that they bought my payday loan from two companies, mmg and debt doctor. Now I have paid both of those off back in '08 and then some in fees and payments. My question is do I have to pay this company as well? Can they take me to court or anything? What should I tell them? any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You have a right to receive a letter of collection via the mail. You know, I am so sick and tired of the BS that companies such as National Credit Adjusters claiming they aren't a collection agency, because if what they say is true, then they have NO right to be calling you to ask that you pay a debt, HELLO, how stupid do these people think we are, if that isn't collecting on a debt, then I must be insane! File a complaint against them with the FTC and your AG.

Did you file a complaint, you REALLY NEED to file a complaint asap! Tell the FTC what they are threatening to do. You do realize they can't impose a garnishment unless they go to court don't you? They can't take you to court until they follow the law (FDCPA) by sending you a letter of collection. If they do take you to court, you can have it thrown out of court by stating you never received as much as a letter of collection from these people AND the loan was paid off anyways! Tell them to go piss up a rope. Keep ajournal of these conversations, date, time, name of person who called, telephone number they called from, and what the conversationw as about so you will have something to take into court with you in case they should decide to do so. Also, FILE A COMPLAINT and keep a copy of the complaint for further proof.

Thanks for your help. I just recieved an email from mmg one of the pdl's that they say they bought the debt from. They even confirm in their email that i paid 180 in fees and made one payment of 50. That covers the 200 that was loaned to me. Any other advice anyone has please let me know, i don't want to pay these people when i don't have to.

Reply to their email and tell them you have paid it in full and they are trying to collect on an illegal debt. Demand that they send you a return email stating the debt is paid in full, if they refuse, then tell them you are going to file a complaint against them with the BBB, FTC and your attorney general's office.

mmg tells me that they no longer own the account and that i was sold to national credit adjusters, should I foward the email to them? I've already sent them letters. Do you have any info on magnum z? I know they were debt doctors, but i got in touch with a number i found on here and they say they are no longer affiliated wiht them.

Try typing magnum z into the search box located in the upper right hand corner of this forum.

Google your state attorney generals office, usually you can file a complaint easily online.

I filed a complaint on this with the ftc and I sent nca letters including an email from mmg showing that I had paid the principle on this account. I haven't heard anything back from nca though, should I be nervous that they haven't tried to contact me at all? Or would they have realized that i am right and that I don't owe anything?
