My fiance & I both just turned 21. At the time in our life when we should both just be starting out, planning our wedding, saving to buy a house, etc. we are so in debt we can't afford to eat (literally)! Why? PAYDAY LOANS. I seriously need help here people. We have 8 payday loans. We didn't have the money to pay rent, eat, or get gas, so within the past two weeks we just stopped paying the fees. This is what we have:

Advance America
Christiansburg, VA
Me - $575 (500 loan, 75 fee)
Him - $575 (500 loan, 75 fee)

Approved Cash Advance

Him - $460 (400 loan, 60 fee)

We also have a combined credit card debt of about $4000 that we had to stop making payments on. In payday loan FEES alone we were paying over $900 a month & not getting anywhere. I need some help. I am over the edge, my bank accounts are overdrawn by $500+. Does anyone know anything about companies that will consolidate payday loans, or know anything about setting up payment arrangements with these companies? I can't afford to be taken to court or my wages garnished & I am afraid that could eventually happen. HELP!

Hi Sheena, welcome. You have come to the right place. What state do you live in, Virginia? Are all of these storefront loans? You are not alone. A lot of us here have been in your same situation. Since you registered for this site, a debt counselor should be contacting you soon to discuss your options. In the mean time, let us know about if any of these are internet loans. Everything will be ok and you are doing the right thing by asking for help now and getting things straight before it gets even more out of control.

From the way it looks these are all storefront loans right? If you have stopped paying the fees they will deposit your check. You need to contact these companies asap and let them know your situation. Try and set up a payment plan, but make sure that you don't overdue it to leave yourself without any money. The storefront lenders are licensed in your state so they can take you to court for defaulting. But if you talk to them and let them know that you do plan on repaying they should set up a plan. But if they don't want to there is a company that consolidates with payday loans and they can also help you with your credit cards also. I believe the company is town & country (T&C) you can do a search on them. I know there are some people in here right now that are dealing with them. Let us know how it goes with them.

I do it all the time!! (Wow, now I can delete them--if I only knew how to do it!! :lol: ) And definately to our new friends, I say welcome!! You have definately done the right thing by coming here. I have read the list of the PDL's you have and I know that some of them are storefront and some are internet. You must sit down and figure out how much you've actually paid these people first and if you have paid back the original loan with legal interest in Virginia, demand that your accounts be marked paid in full.
