First of all I want to thank everyone on here who responds with such great advice! I am working on getting my credit back...and have been over the past year or so since I started on this site. My problem today is that I got a call from a company that left a voicemail for either myself or my lawyer to call them back. Even when calling them back they NEVER say or let you know what company it is. Finally, this lady got on the phone and said I had big problems. I needed to pay the money today before 1 PM or they will be sending it in to my district court for stolen properties and bad checks. What happened is that about 3 years ago I had gotten into the payday loan trap. My whole check was going to payday loan interest. I kept paying the interest on these for about 6 months. I paid well over the original amount in just the interest. I sent these companies to my Michigan Attorney General and i Got three of them to send letters saying I was paid in full. Nevis Marketing was NOT one of them. Now they are threatening me that I can get charged for stolen property (the money) and bad checks. Is this true? Can they do this?

I have to my Attorney General...I just called their office again today, shortly after posting this and the guy I talked to pretty much said the same thing. They cannot threaten to take me to jail, they use this to get me to pay because they are not even a company licensed in michigan. I wonder if they are licensed anywhere?

Does anyone know? If they keep harrassing me...can I sue them? I dont really want to go through that trouble but if they continue to call me several times a day and leave harrassing messages....AND I've already paid them like 5 times the original balance just in interest...would I have a case?

Nevis Marketing is an overseas outfit I believe, if so, then suing them would probably be impossible unfortunately, just as it would be impossible to sue you. When they call, don't talk to them, don't even acknowledge them, the more you do, the more they will call. Ignore them completely, they will tire of talking to thin air sooner than someone to argue with.
