Legal in NJ??? PLEASE Help!!
Date: Wed, 05/04/2011 - 12:15
2 weeks later, they hit my account for $165.00, which brought my debt to them back to $550.00 (I expected this outcome, as well as interest to accrue the longer it took me to pay back-so everything OK at this point)
This week, they want to take $137.00 and my account with them will be at $660.00. This is a fee outside of and separate from any interest or fees outlined in the contract. I am appalled and pissed off about this sneaky crap-I am not trying to be paying this off for the next year.
Now I find this site, and see that in my home state of NJ--payday loans (which this is called in the contract I have) ARE ILLEGAL.
The company is onlineadvance and they are based in Delaware. Can anyone PLEASE explain to me what recourse I have?
I fully intend to pay at least the principal amount, but all the rest is inflated and predatory IMO. I look forward to any advice, and thanks in advance for your help!!
You will need to send them a revocation of your ACH authorizatio
You will need to send them a revocation of your ACH authorization and revocation of wage attachment. In your letter revoking these state that payday loans are illegal in NJ, and that you will only pay the amount you borrowed (that amount less what you've already paid).
BEFORE you send the letter you should close your checking account because as soon as they know, they will attempt to debit your account.
Go to the top of the Payday loan forum and read the sticky "dealing with illegal payday lenders".
I live in NJ and had 8 payday loans at one time.

Yes listen to Aubrey this site helped me get out of 13 payday loans in which I had and I also live in New Jersey! I paid more than the principal I wasn't really expecting a refund but as long as they leave me alone I am good! Out of the 13 I only have 2 that constantly harass me and that is United Cash Loans and Ameriloan!

Ok thanks guys---I saw the post on possible problems with closing the bank account though. I just got out of the woods after 6 years of being unable to open an account because of crap with Chexsystems, and don't want to go through that again. What about the "hard ACH block" thing I read on here about?
You could try a hard block, but that would block all ACHs. Not

Im OK with no ACH---so if I hard block that, would checks that I write (the old school paper way) still work ok?
Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions or ones that have been answered elsewhere-I have to make a move on this today...
