I think this is actually a good thing (the info overload) but my head is spinning! I am not sure where to start...

Anyway...I am in NJ and have / had the following PDLs:

Lender Amt. Amt pd Status
United Cash 300 480 PIF
500 Fast Cash 300 830 (ouch!!) open (ouch!!!)
United Cash 350 0 - first pmnt due 2/27 of 125

So based on what I have read...this is how I need to proceed...please tell me if I am wrong!!!!

1. contact my bank to determine best way to secure account before closing.
2. send a letter to the PDL
3. hope and pray?

anything else?

Thanks so much!!!

hey! i live in jersey, too and guess what: none of your loans are legal. seriously, they are prohibited here so this will not be too hard. all you morally owe is the principal. the companies will not admit they are not legal but they really are not.
Your steps are correct, pay extra attention to closing out your bank. mine messed up and i gave the companies even more money!

Just accept that you are going to be inconvenienced for a while, but it will be well worth it. $315 of every paycheck is being sucked out by those vampires and it's going to stop as soon as you get the account closed.

They aren't going to sue you. They've never sued anybody and they sure as hell aren't going to start in a state like New Jersey where charging more than 36% - let alone 360% or more - in interest is a criminal offense.

Avoid their phone calls as best you can. They use a predictive dialer and the more you answer the longer you stay in the call queue. But phone calls and e-mails are the only "weapons" they have. Eventually, they'll give up and move on to the next victim.

i agree they will bug you (well, some will some kind of run away, it depends on the company..). sometimes it's not right away but eventually you'll get calls, emails, etc. but keep in mind they cannot do anything but make empty threats. remember that's all they are, they cannot and will not do anything to you.
