I had a loan a while back with vince enterprises, the account was sent to lra and I asked them to validate the account and never recieved anything now I am getting calls from First irs legal about this and they are telling me that they are not a collection agency and that they don't have to validate the debt. They are saying that I owe close to 1000 dollars. the original loan was 300 which I paid 175 towards. They are telling me that papers will put in in my name for check fraud, which i know I can't be charged with. I live in NY. My question is what can I do? Should I get in contact with vince? Should I still send a debt validation letter to First irs legal. I was reading some stuff on here and I believe they are associated with lra. Any one who has dealt with them in the past please help me out and let me know what to do.

First of all, a collection agency can't add interest or fees, and if they aren't a collection agency then why are they trying to collect money from you? I would ask them that question, either they are or they aren't. I mean seriously, what a stupid thing for them to say, 'they aren't a collection agency'? Duh, I would tell them exactly what I stated above.

Don't talk to them on the telephone, they are saying things to you that makes absolutely no sense. Report them to the FTC, BBB and your attorney general's office immediately, make sure the report you fill out is detailed with as much information as you can possibly supply about the company you are complaining about.

Tell them they are trying to collect on an illegal debt, give them as many details as you can on the collection agency. If you want to send them a DV, then go ahead, but I would first tell them they are required to send you a dunning letter in the mail, as stated in my above post.

Keep good records, because if they continue to harass you you may need those records to prove you requested a letter of collection via the mail. Just be patient, you will hear from them I am sure, but probably just more harassing phone calls, don't speak to them, but do keep track of how often, when and where they are calling from so you can file more complaints and have accurate records!

I found out they are definitely integral recovery service, I saw alot of people on here have dealt with them and they seem to be really bad to deal with. I filed a complaint with ftc and with bbb. Does that really do anything? I heard from them again today and they threatened that if I did not pay 650 by 3 today papers would be filed with my state and county in NY and I would face check fraud charges and would end up paying close to 3000. I just wanted a little reasurrance that they are full of bs and can't or file anything. Like I had previously said I'm trying to make payments to these places, but I won't pay almost 700, when all that I really owe them left is closer to 200. One other thing I was wondering is that this was sent to them from vince enterprises now they are telling me that since it was sent out they no longer have access to my info, what I wondering is even though they say that can I still send them payments/ because I want to have this paid off.

If they are attempting to collect a debt they are bound to the FDCPA.
