I currently live in ohio and have made the mistake of taking out payday loans to help pay bills when my husbands hours were cut. The companies I have them through are Integrity advance, CashNetUSA, Payment Direct and MJK marketing. I tried to find there licenses in Ohio and could not. These were all done over the internet. I just need help in getting out of this mess. I will pay what I need to pay, but the repeated fees are eating up my paycheck. Thanks for any help

Payday loans are legal in the state of Ohio. However, in order to find out whether or not your payday lenders are licensed to operate in your state, you will have to contact Ohio Division of Financial Institutions. If you find that they are not licensed to operate in your state, then you can check out the given page in order to know how you need to deal with them: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/illegal-pdl-dealings.html .

However, if you find that they are legal, then you'll be liable for paying the interest and fees along with the principal balance. In such a situation, you can go for the options of debt consolidation or debt settlement in order to get rid of your debts.

CashNetUSA is your only licensed lender. They will offer you an extended payment plan but you have to ask for it. Generally, they'll split your current balance into 4 equal payments that will be due on your next 4 pay dates. No further interest or fees will accrue. You'll have to set up an alternate payment arrangement with them because you'll be closing your checking account. I suggest a pre-paid debit card.

The others are not licensed.

You will need to first close your checking account. Second, file complaints with the OH Attorney General and the FTC. THEN, send illegal/unlicensed lender letters to each of the others. You should only repay the principal amount of your loan. If you've already met or surpassed that with the "fees" they've charged, you owe them nothing further. If you've overpaid, sometimes you can get a refund, if you fight hard enough for it.

You'll find letter samples, instructions and lots of feedback here. Please read through the thread and then reclaim your paycheck!
