I heard something very interesting today that I thought I would share with everyone. These boards have been so very helpful for me in my struggle with pdl's, that I wanted to give back. I was talking with the collections department at the bank I am with because I have been overdrawn -230.00 due to some pdls. I have had my account hard blocked for a couple of weeks now, but i still owe the overdraft fees. She asked me if I had filed my income taxes yet, which I have, and if it was direct deposited into my account, which it was. She told me that my stimulus check would be deposited in my account because my federal taxes had been deposited in the same account. She was able to give me the EXACT date it was going to be deposited, apparently because of the ss# numbers. She said the bank was just given this information today. She also told me that once my account is in the postive that the hard block would automatically come off. This makes me nervous now because if the pdl's have this information, which they have the social security #'s, they are going to try and debit people's accounts like crazy!! She suggested that I fill out a fraud affidavit now listing all of the pdl's I have sent letters to revoking my ACH withdrawls. I am just going to close the account and get rid of it once and for all, I am just concerned that these wicked pdl's will beat me to the punch, and get my stimulus check before i have a chance to pull the money out of there. Any suggestions?

My bank did NOT take the block off. It was at a zero balance and I had the block remain on. I was getting refunds from some pdls, so the refunds were being deposited into the account. There is no reason for them to take the block off. None at all. I would certainly speak to the manager and ask him/her why the hell the block would automatically be taken off. Tell them you need it left ON. There should be no problem with this. The pdls may/may not know when your check will be deposited. Can you just imagine how many "customers" they have? Do you honestly see them checking every single one of them out and checking the dates their checks will be deposited? Hell, they'd have to hire a boat load of people just to do that! I think that since you know the exact date the check will be deposited, go to the bank on that day, withdraw every penny that you can to make your account a zero balance and close that sucker with the assurance it will not be forced back open.

Number one, I can't imagine that your bank wouldn't let you keep your account open on a "deposit only" basis, at least until your rebate check comes in, that seems very strange. Did you talk to a manager about it? If not, that's what I would do.

Too, the bank is saying they just now found out when the tax rebates will be sent? That informations' been available online at the IRS website and other places for a couple of weeks, now!

Thanks for your comments. I will definetly ask the bank manager again what the procedure is for the hard block on my account. It was my understanding you could have it on for as long as you thought necessary. I have been so focused on getting these payday loans straightened out that I wasn't keeping up on the stimulus checks information. Cannr, I hope you are right about the pdl's!

Hello, I bank with Wachovia and I closed my account with them because of my payday loans. I've been dealing with one person in particular in reference to this closed account because my daughter's direct deposit was still going into this account and she has worked wonders for me until I was able to stop my daughter's direct deposit. I would call her every Friday and she would reject it out of that closed account and then on monday she would deposit it into the new account. I asked her what would happen with my stimulus check and she told me to call her when I was expecting it and she would do the same thing for it. Maybe you should try dealing with one individual of your bank and see if that's something that they can work out for you.

Here is the schedule released from the IRS

Direct Deposit and Paper Check is decided on how you filed this year for your refund.

DIRECT DEPOSIT

Last two SSN digits: Payment will be transmitted by:
00 through 20 May 2
21 through 75 May 9
76 through 99 May 16

PAPER CHECK

Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed by:
00 through 09 May 16
10 through 18 May 23
19 through 25
May 30
26 through 38 June 6
39 through 51 June 13
52 through 63 June 20
64 through 75 June 27
76 through 87 July 4
88 through 99 July 11

People who file a return after April 15 will receive their economic stimulus payment, but probably about two weeks later than the schedule shows. A return must be filed by October 15 in order to receive a stimulus payment this year. See the online calculator for an estimate of the amount you will receive.

A small percentage of tax returns will require additional time to process and to compute a stimulus payment amount. For these returns, stimulus payments may not be issued in accordance with the schedule above, even if the tax return was processed by April 15.

I've seen some stories on the wires today that the checks will start going out 4 days early and some direct deposit checks could be in accounts as early as Monday (4/28). So, you might want to keep an extra-sharp eye on your accounts to make sure that the vultures don't eat up your check!

Folks, please be really careful also, if you have stopped payment on a check to any payday loan company. Some, will alter the check number and do an ACH thru your bank so it will clear. Please trust me on this, I worked for one of these "idiot companies" for quite sometime!! Some have already issued the schedule to their stores as to when these tax checks are being distributed. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!
