I'm wondering if anyone has been able to set up payment arrangements (to pay the principal only of course, since they are SO ILLEGAL)with them recently, had mail accepted, money orders cashed, emails or letters replied to, etc. I called them and they could not locate my account and had no information to give me, and yet they called trying to collect on it on April 21st. They don't respond to BBB complaints, AG complaints.

Not sure what to do here.

I have a loan with them and have paid over what I owed. No they don't respond to letters but I have been working with these folks on another forum to hit them at the ACH Processor. Check out the 1st sticky. I had another PDL and I found their ACH Processor yesterday and today the PDL put $500.00 back into my account. I am now trying to find the ACH Processor for United Cash Loans. You could help too, call your bank. I called mine yesterday and they could not help me but since then I have learned so much so I am calling back. If you find out anything let me know.

What state do you live in? I found out that PDLs' are prohibited here in Maryland and I'm working with the people in MD Government (Financial Regulation) to get my PDL's resolved. If you have some kind of department of Financial Regulation in your State, they might be able to advise you what course to take. (As far as United Cash Loans, they keep insisting they ARE legal here in MD, but when I ask them to send me something on company letterhead stating that they're legal, they don't cooperate)

If you type in "United Cash Loans" in the search box, there is one post that comes up that displays a "cease and desist" order from the the Attorney General of Oklahoma. This post states that the Oklahoma AG told UCL to cease and desist from lending and collecting on any existing loans to ANYONE, regardless of the state. This is different than the post regarding New Jersey. This poster worked a long time on this and he insisted that UCL has been told this applies to lending and collecting to/from ALL customers in ALL states. This post was from over a year ago, so I don't know if it still applies. That is what I'm trying to confirm. Does anyone know? I tried to PM this poster, but I don't think he's on the board anymore - or at least hasn't posted in a long time.
I know that Miami, Oklahoma is an Indian Reservation, and that's why so many of these internet PDL's are located there. Apparently, according to Michale Mccord at the Oregon Department of Finance and Insurance, there is some dispute about whether they have to follow US Law and that's why they seek refuge there.
If anyone knows, this would be very helpful to a lot of people. That would mean they have been prohibited from ALL lenidng/collecting activity for well over a year by the Oklahoma AG - not just in Oklahoma, but EVERYWHERE PERIOD. I'm not saying this is necessarily true or correct, but I'm asking if anyone out there who knows more about the situation, if they can confirm either way. Thanks.

I don't know about that, but I do know in the state of California last year on June 29 there were civil actions filed against them by the California Corporations Commissioner. And there definitely is a Desist and Refrain Order against them here because in this action they violated it. If you go to the California Dept of Corporations website and look under Enforcement, then Actions you can see the order. I am also dealing with them but so far have heard nothing from them.

yes and if you are in CT this would be illegal anyway as pdl's are prohibited in CT.so you do only owe what you borrowed.nothing more.the third sticky at the top of this forum has all you need to deal with this and other illegal pdl's.
