I'm in Montana and I have 5 internet payday loans - I just found this forum and need help getting rid of these PDLs. Thank you!

ameriloan - 250 - first payment of 75 due 09/20
Loanshop online - Isle Ventures - 300 - first payment of 90 due 09/20
Unitedcashloans - 300 - first payment of 90 due 09/20
OMG Group (oasis1 marketing group) - 200 - have paid 120 (2 payments of 60 each) with a payment of 60 due 09/20
MLadvance/JHPartners - 300 - have paid (I think) 270 (3 payments of 90 each) with a payment of 90 due 09/20

I have contacted my employers to have my direct deposit changed to another bank, but I may have a paycheck still coming to my original bank tomorrow (and maybe Friday from a second job, but hopefully not). Hopefully, my next paychecks will go to my new account.

I haven't closed my bank account yet (and in reading the sticky about closing accounts, I guess I'm glad I haven't done that. I still need to do the revocation letters. Well, I just e-mailed revocation letters, but I need to print them tomorrow and mail them - and maybe fax them?)

Thank you so much!

Thank you cannr and Roxy

I did e-mail my bank today and asked them to block/freeze ACH/debits, but I'll call them in the morning. They aren't local to me, so I can't go there in person.

I'll also get the revocation letters to my employers tomorrow.

So, for the illegal ones (at least three, it looks like, and maybe all five), I only have to pay a total of what they loaned me, is that right? With none of the extra fees? What a relief!

You all are so great!

PLease make sure to call your bank and discuss the situation with them...maybe you can fax them your revokation letters as proof..and let them know the loans are illegal too! Get their word and in writing if possible that they will block the debits...

kri, I can't find squat on those two. Luckily you have the addresses/phone/fax/email for them. I can not find diddly. Unless someone else comes along who has dealt with them. These pdl's use so many names. I looked under the names and telephone numbers. Nada.

According to the sticky about state laws made simple, based on the e-mail reply from the Montana state official, it looks to me like a pdl lender needs to be licensed in Montana in order to lend in Montana, and I find none of my PDL lenders listed (at least, they're not listed under the names I have for them). So, to me, it looks like they're all illegal.

Does it seem like I'm right to you folks?

and, I would use this information to correspond with the PDL lenders and make payment arrangements on my terms to just pay the principal (after I get all the bank closing and ACH stopped and all that has "blown over"), right?

I went and read it myself:

If the internet payday lenders are offering loans to Montana residents or engaging in business in this state, they must be licensed by this state. They may need to be licensed as a deferred deposit lender or consumer lender depending on the products they offer. They need to contact the Banking and Financial Institutions Division for licensure. See banking.mt.gov/

God, I love goudah! :D

Anyway, yes, apparently they have to be licensed in your state to lend to residents in your state. Which means, yes, you are only obligated to pay the principle amount of the loan. No fees. No rollovers. No extras of any sort. And, yes, when we start sending out letters to your pdl's, we will quote your state law and also that information.

That information goudah posted is awesome!

So, you folks are going to sort of assist/support me on an ongoing basis as I get through this mess? That is so terrific!!

Thanks!
