I sent this collection agency (working for Paycheck Today) a cease and desist/Do not call letter via certified mail. I received the return receipt back two weeks ago. They continue to call and harass me at home and on my cell phone. I have tried to tell them that they cannot call me and they tell me they can call me whenever and wherever they want. I thought that once they got the letter they had to stop? They just keep calling and telling me I have to pay the money. I found out the payday loans were illegal in my state and sent Paycheck Today all the paperwork on it. Then they turned the account over to ARM (Accounts Receivable Management) and the harassment just won't stop. Any ideas?

I dealt with ARM of Florida. When they called me I asked them to provide me their license number to collect in my state and told them that the payday loan company they were trying to collect for was unlicensed and illegal and that I was recording their call. They never called back. If they call you at work and you can transfer calls have them hold on and transfer them to your AG's office or you Department of Financial Institutions. Also file complaints with the BBB in Florida. Stand your ground dont bend but the more you just say dont call me they will. Be ready for them when they call.

I also have been having trouble with ARM for Paycheck Today. They have threatened to file fraud charges against me because I filed a court ordered repayment plan. They are nasty people to deal with as soon as you tell them you are contacting an attorney they will stop calling you.

This man threatened me with Fraud and told me that if I did not pay with a debit or credit card TODAY I would be served with papers and charged with fraud. I attempted to talk to him but he said that is all he could do and would not take any other form of payment. He started to raise his voice to me and I told him to NOT call me at work any longer and I hung up. He called back and kept calling, calling, calling until I had to answer and I said I would call him back after work. He said you better have a credit card ready to make a payment-goodbye. Should I call back and if so, what should I say? '

These calls are so nasty but I am a strong person and if I know what to say i can stand my ground. I do not want to give him my debit card as I am afraid of who he is and what he'll do with it.

tell him to pound sand as ARM of florida is a disgusting bottomfeeder that specializes in illegal internet loans.mostly MTE loans.tell him until he sends something in writing.get used to getting hung up on.they can't have you charged with anything.they are a collector who has no legal power.even if they were legit they can't sue or prosecute as he has stated.i would wait for him to call you.it's not worth it to get into it with this idiot.i would file FTC,and AG complaints against ARM and the idiot as well.

I want to pay them the amount I owe but they will not send me anything to validate that if I sent them money they would actually pay my loan off with that money? I see so many posts on here where ppl send money and it just disappears or is not posted to the loan. He was so rude and scary......

guess what, what you really owe and what he says you owe are two different things.i know people who were called about MTE loans they overpaid.this place tried to tell them they still owed at least what was borrowed.they are as illegal as any ipdl.until this joke sends something don't even talk to him.which will be never.

Now Shane at ARM is telling me to get an attorney and I asked him for a debt validation letter and he states they already sent me one - but never did! Or at least I never got one. He is leaving me voicemails to have my attorney call him. What should I say now? They will not send me a letter so I don't know how to pay this. I told him I would not pay with a debit or credit card - I won't give him personal information at all.

tell shan-o your are filing ATTORNEY GENERAL complaints against him,and ARM.you can file the complaint online most likely.just state ARM of FL,and any ph#'s that you have from caller id.i would tell him that then hang up.do not speak to him again.ARM is an unlicensed collector that specializes in illegal internet pdl's.mostly MTE loans.he can't,and won't do a thing except call.let your AG take care of him.

In your history with PDL's, what happens when you file a complain with the AG's office? Eventaully, will this loan just go away or can they legally file it to a collection agency? Since they are "illegal" themselves, I am curious as to their actual legal rights and how long they will pursue this without providing the information to me to pay this correctly.

i would stop speaking with them, period. you sent the letters out and if you used the letters here they usually have the part of contact in writing only..
illegal lenders will not be able to sue, they have no legal leg to stand on and have no legal rights at all.. how much the attorney general's office will do depends on where you live. some states are great, others (like mine - nj) will do nothing at all.

One last question...Shane left me a voicemail that this is his final attempt to contact me and "decision has been made" and to have my attorney contact him. He seems legit because he left his phone number and said to have them call him directly. Is he legit and can he do anything? He won't send me anything in writing. They will not let me pay this any other way besides a checking account or credit card number. I am so frustrated with this....

How on earth do these sleazebags stay in business, Paul? I've been unable to pull myself away from these boards for over a week now, just reading everyone's experience. My heart truly goes out to everyone who is being bullied by the likes of these unscrupulous companies.

How can someone work or be a representative of these companies and sleep at night, knowing what they're doing to a family?
