I live in Utah, and took a $500 payday loan from splashcashadvance.com. I have already paid $600 back on the loan and had one $200 payment remaining which I stopped because my wife recently passed away and I am in serious financial trouble as a result.

They now say that because I missed that payment, I owe $850, and they are unwilling to work with me.

What is the best thing for me to do at this point? They want me to give them a debit card # which they say they will only charge $150 every 2 weeks, but I don't trust them. For now, I'm just ignoring them. Is this a bad idea? They say the balance will continue to increase until I pay them.

What should I do? I don't have $850 right now.

I did some research and found out that splashcashadvance.com appears to be owned and operated by First American Financial Resources, which is a company owned and operated by a Native American tribe, on a reservation, thus tecnically outside the U.S. I haven't been able to find a record of them being licensed in Utah, and if they aren't, then they would in fact be operating illegally in utah.
I have already paid back the principal + $100. Should I just tell them to pound sand?

they are illegal as all get.also means since you paid 600.00 on this 500.00 loan you not only don't owe,but they owe you that 100.00 back.do not talk to them as everything they spout will be a lie.again you do not owe and they owe you.their delusion about the balance is just that.i would file AG,AND FTC complaints against them.then ignore them completely.
