Bad check to PDL

I had a company call me and actually threaten me that in the state of nevada it is a felony to write a bad check, this was for a payday loan btw. I than continued to talk to him about it and he than said well its considered a Misedemeanor in Nevada...but this is a Payday loan, and usually when payday loans are written they are bad checks. I want to pay all my debts off but is this really a felony, or is he just trying to scare me?
