If you close your banking account and open a new one at the same bank, is it possible for the PDL to find out your new account info and debit your account?

I think it may be possible but it's never happened to me. In fact, I closed one account and opened a new one at the same bank with no problems, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. It would be more likely to happen if you apply for another pdl online because they share information.

This question has been asked over in the banking section of these forums and the people over there who are "in the know" about banking have said they have never seen it happen except when someone has applied for another pdl. I guess nothing is impossible and I do keep a close eye on my account now-but the most important thing is never, ever apply for another pdl. I've seen it happen several times here where someone will say they applied for a new pdl even a couple of years later and woke up the next morning to thier checking account being wiped out.

When you go to close your account it might be a good idea to ask the manager if there's anyway a PDL could put unauthorized withdrawals against your new account. And as others have posted, if you go to apply for another PDL, there's always the chance THAT PDL will share info or might even be under the same corporate umbrella as your original PDL. Of course some of us have gotten those VERY transparent bids for new information - you know the emails, "You've been such a good customer we'd like to offer you a special deal on a new PDL?" Yeah, right... ;)

Got one of those emails this morning from iadvance cash. just log in to apply for a new loan! I did log in and deleted my old information even though its not valid anymore. I know - they can look up the old stuff anyway but what the heck. I sure was not crazy enough to put in any valid information.
