Need some help with this...I have a company calling and calling me about a payday loan that I supposedly took out approx. 2 years ago (maybe longer) ... they say they are a lawyers office and calling to collect on a loan that I never paid. I asked for them to give me some information in writing, such as who the pdl company was, the amount, date, etc...and they are telling me that that information was already given to me from a collection company that tried to contact me, but since I never responded that now it has gone to the lawyers office and legally they do not have to provide me with the information. I told the girl I would not speak to them until they provided me with that, she said she would send it but I never received anything and now they have some other guy calling and BUGGING!! I don't know if this pdl was ever paid off, or not so I am hesistant about giving them anything. The guy that called today said they were doing an investigation for check fraud on me now. Can they do this...and what are my rights if any?

Who is the original lender? This could be part of the whole Indian scam. They used to say they were calling for "US Federal Bank" but now they pretend to be calling about real payday loans debts. Some scumbag is selling them old payday loans files so they have all your personal information and then they run a credit report from DP Bureau or Teletrack so they can pretend they are calling about a real debt.
