Payday loan companies are taking away money from the checking account. How to stop it. Can I sue them?

Call and write the company that you are taking away the authority for the company to take automatic payments out of your bank. This is called “revoking authorization. Inform your bank also that you have “revoked authorization” for the payday loan company to take automatic payments from your account.

Even if you have not revoked your authorization, you can still stop an automatic payment by giving your bank a stop payment order.

If you’re having a problem stopping a the payday loan company from draining money out of your account, you may contact your state regulator or state attorney general.
You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB at consumerfinance(dot)gov/complaint or (855) 411-2372.
