There is a payday loan campany who says I have defaulted on a loan I had with them. First I do not have a loan with them, I have never taken out a loan with them. They called me and said if I don't pay by the 24th of nov, they will have me arrested for check fraud. Can they do this?

no they can't.even if you did owe debts are civil matters not criminal ones.tell them to pound sand.sounds like a scam to me.

That's what I thought. Since they are out of state and since they never received a "check" it could not be check fraud. I have since closed those accounts because of all this mess.

I closed out my bank account due to overpayment on a payday loan. I told them that I already paid back the loan and they should not have "financed the loan" I live in the state of Florida and they said since I did it over the internet my state laws don't apply is this true? They said they are going to proceed with further actions..what can they legally do?

arrowhead is part of GENEVA ROTH and with a couple of exceptions aren't licensed in any state.for instance in my state illinois.they aren't licensed there, but they do have a license just not in illinois.same goes for alot of states FL included.

These companies are shameless; ask them to send you something in writing on company letterhead stating that you do owe them money and that they're licensed to operate in your State, see what they say. (the only answer I ever got to that was "we don't have to!!!")
