Getting the upper hand with annoying PDL calls
Date: Mon, 02/04/2008 - 22:30
As I continue to "fight the good fight", I managed to get under the skin of at least one PDL. After all of the typical harassment, I finally decided to call back and give them a taste of their own medicine.
The "gentleman" (and I mean that term very loosely) on the other end of the line informed me that he was from the investigations department. I reminded him that a BBB complaint had already been filed. I pointed out that I had made an offer to repay just the principal. I also mused aloud that his company and their loans are illegal in my state. His reponse? Not "We are completely legal." No, it was "then why did you take out the loan in the first place. He then began rattling off all of the names of my references and my employer, threatening to call them. I told him go to ahead (I had already warned these folks of the potential for a call.) When I told him his behavior was harassment and would be reported as such, he began protesting loudly and tole me not to threaten him, which really made me laugh. When I had enough of his lies, I shared with him that I had also filed an FTC complaint the previous day. They have laid low ever since :)

I'm hoping for your sake that they DO stay away (but wouldn't count on it). MY PDL'er's also threatened me with all of that stuff; when they'd call my work, they'd say "you are being recorded!" I'd tell them, "well, you're on the speaker phone, and we're all standing here laughing at you!"
