pdl issues

I thought if you lived in ny state pdls can't take you to court? My pdl account was purchased by a private coll.aggent in ny state, they said if i don;t pay up the company will send me a 1099 form so i have to pay on my tax and possibly take me to court! what do i do?

seems there are a few bottomfeeders and rent-a-lawyer CA'S out of NY.since pdl's are illegal in NY i don't see them having a leg to stand on.i would demand an address to send a DV letter.if they won't i wouldn't worry.also they can't send you a 1099c until you pay the alleged debt.i wouldn't pay them without something in writing first.just don't give them anything without a dunning letter.try to get the name of this CA.
