Hi arcebenjamin74,
If your employer agrees to it, then yes (check with your employer on their policy - it is voluntary on their part) but they cannot force it legally unless they have a court order that proceeded from a judgment.
What is your situation?

Some payday loan companies have you sign a "wage assignment" when you obtain a loan from them. In this case, they can send a copy of the signed contract to your employer and it is perfectly legal to take a part of your wages without notice. However, you have the legal right to revoke a wage assignment, what you need to do to cover yourself is send a letter to the pdl company and revoke any and all wage assignments you may or may not have signed, then, show a copy of the letter to your employer. The other possibility is "wage garnishment" as Chris stated there has to be a court order for that to occur.
