I have 12 payday loans currently. I contacted PDL assistance and they quoted me 200.00 start up fee and then 281.00 a month for 10 months. I closed my bank account and opened a new one. I have not yet paid the 200.00 fee to PDL assistance, do I really need their help?

I'm just kinda scared about doing this "on my own"-but then I review these postings and see people saying that they still get the harassing calls, and the PDL people can't make the calls stop anyway...I just need advice on which loans and illegal in the state of Oregon and how to go about setting up settlements with each company. HELP!

Natalie First you can call them ask for a paymeny plan, then send them a letter confirming your conversation and payment agreement. In that letter tell them to only contact you by mail and no other way. This will in turn cease any collection calls and serve as an agreement that most states consider a contract. I am not an attorney and this is not legal advice.

Langhorne Debt Solutions. I just started two months ago. The enrollment fee was only $100. I went with them instead of pdl because I liked that I keep my money in my own account. They gave me a budget that I have to put in there every two weeks but they only take out their fees and I'm supposed to let the rest build up. Not too many calls since I started except from one company, but they sent me a long email telling me about how to handle the calls while they worked on it from their end. I did what they said and a week or so, those later those calls pretty much stopped too. My savings is building but it will probably be another month or two before I have enough for them to start making offers, so I can't tell you yet how good the settlements are.
