The only certain way to stop them is to close your checking account. I've read of instances were people did ACH blocks and they still went through.

I'd have to agree with aubrey, closing your account is the way to go, or at the very least put your account on deposit only status until you can get a new account opened. Do you have your account blocked for ALL ACH's or just from this company? Blocking just 1 company name can be risky as so many of the PDL's (esp. the illegal ones) use several different names.

With a block, you have to give the company name and the exact amount (like a stop payment). This is part of the reason it's ineffective. The illegal lender will use one of their many AKAs and/or send through 3 debits of $33 each. Sometimes, they will even send a paper check, if their ACH attempts have been thwarted. You have to CLOSE the account! :)
