Get on the phone with Wells' customer service and speak to a manager on the phone... inform the manager that unauthorized things are hitting your account and you tried to close it in good faith and the branch is not allowing you. Also inform them that you refuse to pay ALL overdraft fees assessed with regard to this. This is a load of crap on their end...

Yes I did, and the branch manager will not reverse NSF fees and will not close the account until the Direct Deposit advance is paid back.

No they wont close the account in cases like yours....however if you have given them a copy of the ACH revocation, there should be nothing from the lender going thru and no NSF charges. If you have followed the ACH revocation path, go INTO the branch and talk with the branch manager only. If they will not reverse the charges, demand to be put on the phone with the district manager. As an ex Wells employee, I can assure you that the branch manager knows multiple phone numbers to reach the district manager, including both the personal and wells fargo provided cell phones.

If the branch manager AND district manager are uncooperative (or the branch manager refuses to put you on with the district manager) then you call corporate and report both of them. I'm assuring you that if you go high enough up in the chain of command they will reverse the fees and allow you to pay back the advance in a safer way. Make sure to let them know these charges are unauthorized as you already revoked ACH with the payday lenders and should have brought it to the bank. If you didn't bring the copies to the bank you can always just tell the bank it's unauthorized as, well, these bastard PDLs are.

I had the EXACT same thing with US Bank....and they helped me out. I have 35 days to pay the advance back - which will be no problem. But, as everyone suggests...I went in sat down with a Banker, they brought the manager into the conversation. I left them my revocation letters...and they froze my account. Not a sniff of an NSF. Being proactive with my bank helped me immensely.
Good luck with this...but you should be able to accomplish your goal!

I was in the exact same spot as you: PDL's hitting my Wells account with a Direct Deposit Advance against it.
My account was frozen over the phone and I had to go into the bank and get a new account. It can be done. I had every type of hold on the account, and it was closed within 60 days.
