questions
who is this calling and how do you know they are in your state?yes plain green is tribal and illegal.so if you have info on this place like an address then send them a DV(debt validation letter.there is a good example/template in SOAPLADY'S signature.send it certified mail return receipt.last thing.this sounds like a bottomfeeder because they are trying to strongarm you with a sue threat that they can't really back up.

The number showed up on my phone, and said the city and state it was from, made me think it's not so shady??? I didn't get a name of the place, but I can share the number. I told her the loan was illegal, and she said she wasn't a lawyer, but they turned me in.
Any ideas of what I should do?? Should I contact Plain Green? The collection agency? A lawyer?
TIA!
here is what you do
what they did is called spoofing and it's illegal.i had calls where my hometown was on the caller id and the humanoid was in NY.no only call to demand details in writing.that's it do not talk to them further.do that and keep us posted on what this alleged bottomfeeder says in response to that.just treat everything as a lie until further notice.

Send a cease and desist, telling them to get lost. Dont even bother with the DV...even if they do verify the paper is worthless. Their client is ILLEGAL and is coming to the table with dirty hands. They cannot sue you or do anything else except harass you so tell em to hit the road!
