I have a company called PMB Capital collecting on a payday loan I took out via the internet. I can't find too much information about them, but they say I "bounced" a check over state lines when the security code I gave them off of my prepaid debit card came back as "invalid". I gave the right information and I don't understand how that is the same as bouncing a check...

Does anyone have any information on this agency or suggestions as to what I should do? They keep calling and sounding like they are going to pursue legal action and I can't find any information on them.

Thanks!!!

I don't remember the name of the original creditor, because I've had many online payday loans. I think it may have been JD Marketing Group or something of that nature, and I'm in Illinois.

I didn't think they could charge me with a bad check when it was never a "check". They have a recording of me setting up payment arrangments, and then the arrangements were broken. I've been advised to not deal with collection agencies, until I receive something in writing, and I haven't received anything from this agency. Can they file some kind of claim or suit against me? For a $300 PD loan?

I doubt if they will follow through with their threats. Once a collection agency contacts you via telephone they have 5 days after their first initial contact with you to send you a dunning letter (letter of collection) thru the mail, that is a federal law (FDCPA). Never admit to owing a debt on the phone, tell them you need documentation to prove this is a valid debt and you won't discuss it until you receive it.

They are horrible...these jokers keep calling for someone who used our number but has never lived here & is just distant family member. They repeatedly call & use profanities when we say "wrong number." I googled to find this forum. Anyone have any advice? Phone company offered to change my numbers but why should I have to do that???

I removed the link to the company, let's not advertise for them. :)
