Yuck. What a mess. Overdrafted my PNC account so horribly bad that I turned to an internet PDL, then another to pay the bills I couldn't pay because of the OD, and the cycle went on and on and on(including a month of no income in the household). Now I am in a huge mess. I don't even want to tell my boyfriend what I have done as he freaks on me for any overdrafts and we have an account together. I didn't realize how horrible these loans were...so easy to get, in fact I don't even remeber signing anything for some. I am so sick right now. I had identity theft last year when someone wrote a bunch of checks on my account and ach withdrawals. I had it investigated and the money returned to me, but had to close that account. It was horrible to try and close the account, I am still recovering and now this.
Here it is:
500 Fast Cash $500.00 paid $0
Ameriloan $350 paid $105
Arrowhead $400 paid $360
and two 6 month loans:
Progressive Payoff $500 paid $0 (payment will be 128 a month )
First bank of deleware $500 paid $240 (160 a month until Feb)
So, once this cycle starts, how do I break it? We will be totally broke and I am already panicked. How hard is it to make arrangements with these companies?
Help quick.....one bad mistake is going to ruin our whole christmas and beyond

Internet payday loans are not legal in the state of Pa. The First Bank Of Delaware is not a payday loan so the payday loan laws would not apply to them. I am uncertain about Progressive Payoff but since you are making payments they are most likely a small loan company so the payday loan laws wouldn't apply to them either. The other three are not licensed to lend to Pa residents, therefore, CLICK HERE to find out how to deal with illegal lenders.

Talked to them today on the phone and said they can not do a hard debit block if I gave permission for these places to debit. Here is the dilemma...now I don't have contact info for some of them, and this will wipe out my whole next pay and then some. Already behind on all bills and it's Christmas. I have no problem with the one's that arent payday lenders, as the payments are maneageable, 6 months and pay the principle as well.

What do i do if they won't block my account? I am so scared. I don't want the car repo's or no christmas for my kids. I feel so stupid. I need to act fast! WHat is the next step?

Under the Electronic Funds Transfer Act you have the right to cancel any ACH authorizations. Ask your bank for the forms to complete. Once they have the forms, contact the pdls and revoke ACH authorization with them. If they tell you they can't do it, give them a copy of the act and tell them they are in violation. Then contact your state Banking Dept.

Have your paycheck directed to another account, or have a paper check issued until you resolve this.

Also, see if you can get your account put on deposit status only. and write checks for any bills.

OK, so I need to go and speak to a manager, then? I am so embarrased about this. I just don't know what else to do. As long as my account stays in the positive for now, I will be ok hopefully they will work with me. Thank you. I just don't understand why they were asking me about authorizing these and combing through my account with a fine tooth comb....saying "well, you got a deposit from this place on this date..." Why does the bank care about my personal bills?

Yes, speak to the manager and point out the regulations in the EFTA. If he/she won't help, then call someone up higher in the bank. You can tell the manager you'll file a complaint also. They are bound by the regulations of this act.

When I had to stop my ACH withdrawals for my pdls, I went through 3 people before I got the help I needed. Finally, I was able to go into the bank and complete the forms to have them stopped. BUT you have to do this 3 days before they are scheduled. Mine were scheduled for a Friday and I went into the bank on a Sunday (my bank's open 7 days a week).

Piece of cake. Then I sent the ACH Revocation letters to my pdls via fax and e-mail. Then the fun started. I received e-mails stating they could not draft the payment, etc. etc.

As of now, my pdls are gone. Took less than 4 months.

Finally got someone to help me at PNC but the guy was really condescending. He was basically telling me that I signed an agreement and I could face purjury charges for blocking my account! He was not a manager and really tried to talk me out of putting a block on my account. He was rude, but I told him that I had a right to revoke the ACH's. Am I wrong? Who is he to judge me? Well, my account is overdrawn 400 dollars, so I had no choice but to block it before the withdrawals came out tomorrow.

So now what, I sent the revocation letters, my bank is on deposit only and now I am scared. I am willing to pay what I owe, but will never give my banking info again.

I have no idea how I will recover from this.

You're doing the right thing. I can only assume that you told your s/o about the loans at this point.

A couple of things that you might want to do -
1. Open up a checking account for household bills only. As long as you're not in a check system you can do this, and this ensures that you have an account - you can give this info to your electric company, etc. If you can find one you qualify for membership at, I'd recommend a credit union vs. a traditional bank.

2. Contact your PDL's and explain that you got into some financial troubles and that you are seeking to resolve the issues.

3. From my side of things, a company that I enjoyed working with was Oak View - they always seemed professional and had the clients in mind. I'm sure others can give some other good, reputable PDL consolidation companies as well.

The thing is - you're willing to pay back what you owe. Most companies will settle with you for the principle of the loan plus a finance fee - you can make your choice as to what to pay back, as your state that you live in made their laws very strict and PA customers are usually only asked to pay back the principle. I'd make your own efforts before you go with a consolidation company as they usually charge you fees.

Don't be overwhelmed and if you deal with a collector that is aggressive, ask for a supervisor or manager. Explain that you want to pay your principle back and commit to a plan (And stick with it).

You'll most likely need to get a pre-paid Visa card (at wal-mart or the like) for your payments as internet PDL companies don't accept mailed payments. This also keeps your banking information secured.

i actually would not even get a prepaid card as that costs at least $5 extra and i have heard of one of those cards allowing companies to over-debit the card and leave you with a fee (it was green dot i believe).
i always demand a physical address to send a money order from (i get money orders from the post office, easy to track).

I agree, and besides, why should we make it convenient and quick for them?
