I have two loans out right now that I have defaulted on. I am going to pay on them my way every two weeks, and with the two I have (paydayone and checkngo), they allow me to pay online via a credit or debit card.

If I don't want them to have my real credit card or bank information, could I just go to Wal-Mart, purchase a prepaid credit card there that will contain just the amount I want to pay, and then pay online that way?

I've never bought a prepaid Visa, so I'm not sure how payments online with it would work.

Thanks!
Jenn

the prepaid will work just like a regular credit or debit card, except you control how much is in it.so they only get what you pay and nothing more.

Thanks! That seems like a much safer option and I'm glad to know it will work.

I just want to say that this place is such a blessing. It is rare in life to find a place where people are so helpful and understand what you are going through. I really appreciate all of you. I have learned so much and never would have had the courage to take control of this horrible situation without the advice I have received on here.

Just wanted to follow up and say that I got a prepaid Visa at Wal-Mart for $3. I activated it online when I got home, and it was ready to use immediately. I only put the amount on it that I intended to pay today. I attempted to make a payment online with it, but the checkngo site wouldn't let me because I was doing less than the full amount owed.

I was scared, but I called checkngo (I recently defaulted with them after making only one payment of a payment plan and had received an email notice demanding $950 today). I called them and said that all I could pay was 1/4 of the amount owed today and the woman asked if I had a credit card ready. I replied yes, and she took the info (card number, security number on the back and exp. date). When she asked if the card had my name on it, I just lied and said yes.

She got her supervisor on, he asked when I would be making further payments and I told him how much I would be paying every two weeks, gave him the dates of the remaining three payments, and said that they would be taking the payments from the credit card I just gave them. He agreed to my terms (which really surprised me because when I tried to deal with them when this all started, the attitude was to pay the full amount NOW).

My advice to anyone would be DO NOT mention that it's a prepaid credit card. Act like it's one in your name because it goes through just like a regular credit card.

The kicker is that when the woman got back on the line with my confirmation number, she mentioned that once all of my payments were done, I would have to wait seven days and then could reapply for another payday loan at that time. INSANE!!!

Walmart will send you a new prepaid card in about 10 days that will have your name on it-so technically it does- its in all that info you provide them when you activate the card.

Anyway I just also wanted to mention that the reason everyone here is so helpful and understanding is because we have all been there and escaped and are now trying to pass what we have learned on to others!

honestly, panddmccarthy, i only sent money orders for my payments to physical addresses.. i got them from the post office, as i heard they were the best for tracking.. and they are good because i did have to track a money order before. i also would get your arrangements in writing before mailing it out.
some people do not mind using prepaid debit cards but i know the ones that are linked to your social, address, etc. can be over-debited still.
i would use a money order and send it to eastside as planned.
