Hubby got a loan through these people and just like with all the rest defaulted. We heard nothing from them until now. I got a letter from Sunrise Credit Services, Inc. and in the letter it says previous creditor tendollarpaydayloan, current creditor- Frist American Investment. They are trying to collect $510.00 on a $200 loan. This CA is licensed in my state to collect. I have a call in to my DFI she is out of the office today. But in the letter it says that First American Investments will report to the credit Bureaus. I don't want to call this CA until I hear from the DFI. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do. I was never contacted by First American Investments.

I called the CA and told them that this matter was being handled by the DFI because they don't hold a valid license and asked for the addy for First American Investment. He told me they don't have that addy because when First American bought the account they sent it dirrectly to them. Well then who do they send the money to lol. Anyway after I told him that the DFI was taking care of this and that she wanted it to go to court so she could get ligit contact info he told me to hang on. Well he came back telling me that the person who handles those types of accounts wasn't in today, hmmmm imagine that  So now I have to send letter to this company and fax this letter to the DFI. Even though this company is licensed to collect in my state I think I got him a little scared by informing him of my situation lol. Then before the call ended he asked well did you receive money. I said yes and I wanted to pay them what they borrowed me minus the roll over fees they took from my checking account and the NSF fees that I got because they tried to take from a closed checking account and they knew it was closed. He said hmmmm. lol So I think he knows there is no chance in hell they are going to get $510 out of me :)

Well I sent out my letter to Sunrise. They called yesterday. They have yet to send me anything in the mail  But the best part was that they asked me if "I" had proof that MTE isn't licensed, and if I had that proof I needed to fax it to him  WTH. Could that be because I had asked them to provide ME proof that they are licensed? Well anyway I e-mailed my DFI about this and she is going to send them a nice little letter, because they called me and asked me for proof before they validated. Plus she is going to send them the proof they are asking for  hahahaha Plus the best part is that this CA is licensed to collect in my state. So she is gonna kick some CA butt :D

I will keep you updated on how things work out.

Well 5 months later and not a letter from these people. Now they called me today  They said in the voicemail that this is concerning business you are currently conducting  Ummmm No I am not lol. I am waiting on them to validate. So for giggles I called them back and they told me that this was a civil matter that needs to be taken care of before it leaves their office  What? I'm like ok whatever, I am at work and I will call you when I get home. Well I called the DFI instead lol. Sent her all my papers and what the voicemail said, word for word. Then what the other lady told me. So she is gonna send them another letter telling them that they never sent me anything and she has proof that they signed for the letter and she has a copy of the letter. So they won't be able to talk their way out of this one. Plus she knows that the main thing with this is that they don't want to believe that they are trying to collect on an illegal debt. So now it's gonna be another waiting game with these people

Well the state sent out their letters and now today I get a call from a different CA :x This will be the 2nd since sunrise contacted me first. So I called the DFI again on this and told her now Advante is calling me about this loan and they just got the account on Monday. Hmmmmm, wonder why is was passed on again? lol

So I asked the DFI if I needed to send out letters so they stop calling and she said nope if you have the addy we will do that for you. So she has the info and the letter will be going in the mail later today :) Even though our laws suck in WI, I still love the DFI's attitude about this loan lol.

The best part is when the CA asked if I had a lawyer and when I told her nope that the state of WI is handling this for me, she was like huh? lmao. She was like well someone has to have a lawyer, I told her nope, the state didn't need a lawyer because tendollar doesn't hold a valid license to lend in this state.

Now again a waiting game :?

Will update on this again when I have more information.

How do I find out if they are legal in my state to lend? I too got a phone call today stating that I owe them money. I closed my account last February and they are saying that they tried to collect from that account and this is the first I heard of it. I was also told that I had to settle the debit before it goes to court.
