I live in Ohio and used a store for my pdl. I owe them 485.00. I have been trying to pay it back since April, but have been strapped for money. A lady at the corporate office told me that Monday they will be taking this to the courts. What will I expect? Will a sheriff come to my house with the papers or will a letter come to me in the mail?
What company is this storefront?

If I were you I would try to set up small payments that you can afford with them first. I would send them a bank check or a money order in small payments even thoughthey tell you that they won't accept payment I think that Ohio law says that it can be done.

I was dealing with Checksmart also and their corporate office is a trip  If they are going to take your papers to court than most more that likely, you'll probably receive papers in the mail for a court mediation hearing to settle the debt. I don't think a judge is involved, it's just a hearing between you, Checksmart, and an arbitrator.
Thanks
Thanks brown sugar for the advise. This has been an terrible experience. Been worried to death. Never want to go through this again.

I just got off the phone with a lady from checksmart. She told me payment would need to be in the store today by 5pm. Tomorrow it would be going to their attorneys and I would need to get a lawyer. Does anyone have any comments on this?

First off, they can't arrest you for defaulting on a PDL. They could take you to civil court or arbitration. Either way, you will be sent to collections but cops will not be on your doorstep. Work on getting a payment arrangement you can live with.
