Hi, I am in the process of trying to choose a debt consolidation/mgmnt company for my 9 payday loans as I cannot manage them at this point. I live in Rhode Island and I am trying to figure out if any of them are illegal. Is there anyone out there that can help me with this? They are as follows:

CashNetUSA-$1000.00
FloBridge-$400.00
SureAdvance-$600.00
OneClickCash-$500.00
MyNextPayCheck-$500.00
CashCure-$600.00
LoanPointUSA-$700.00
USFastCash-$300.00
GoCash-$500.00

They are all internet based. I know it's disgusting.... Please help.

You can contact with the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation to know whether or not pdl companies are licensed in your state. Their contact detail is as follows:
# Address - Division of Banking, 233 Richmond Street, Suite 231 Providence RI 02903
# Phone - (401) 222-2405
# Fax - (401) 222-5628
If you find that they are not licensed in your state, then you can get rid of the debts by paying them only the principal amount. You can glance through the following link to choose a reliable debt consolidation company:

CashNetUSA is your only legal lender.

You need to close your account and contact CNUSA to set up alternate payment arrangements. They may work with you on an extended payment plan but you have to ask for it.

The others are not legal in your state. You only need to repay the principal amount you borrowed. If you've already paid rollover fees, etc. to these places, you can subtract that from the original loan amount. For example, you borrowed $300, you've paid a $90 rollover fee 3X, you only owe them $30 (not $390, which is what they'll try to tell you).

Follow the advice in this thread for the illegal lenders.

Thank you so much for you help. I spoke to Cashnetusa today and they set up a payment plan for me. I also closed my checking account. The calls have started with the other's, so my next step is to send them letters and get the principal paid off. THanks again for the info.....NEVER AGAIN, HARD LESSON TO LEARN.

Yes, it's certainly a hard lesson to learn. Never take out payday loans unless it is an immediate need. As they carry outrageously high interest rates, it is always better to avoid them. If you even take out payday loans, make sure you repay them on your next payday so that you don't incur debt. Manage your finances in such a manner so that you don't need to take help of such short term loans. :p
