I took a pdl out for $200 and I had to close my account because of all the fees & debits they tried to post on my account. Now, months later, I have Lawall & Assc. calling me threatening internet check fraud and I can go to jail if I dont send them $383, $200 = all the fees. Very scary. I live in Michigan and the firm is in Texas? Any advice?

I just got off the phone with CashFirst! I found their website through past emails. A Ben told me that I owed $240 and that they still own my account. He then came back and said "I apologize but the account was sold but our records were not updated and it looks like it was sold and our records will be updated on Monday so please call back then". I asked for a validation of debt and he had no idea what that was. He then said he could read me the history of my account which is as follows:

Origination date 02/19/2008
Principle amount $300.00
Payments:
03/13/2008 $90.00
06/20/2008 $60.00
07/072008 $180.00

Total paid: $300.00
2 missed payments:
03/27/2008 $90.00
07/18/2008 $120.00

He said the balance that was sent to third party is $240.00 (along with my contract).

Third pary (Lawal) is trying to tell me I owe $2910.00!!! And settle my account for $1640.00. They told me that they will make no further collection attempts and that it is in arbitration.

Paralegal LMAO. I highly doubt she is a paralegal, maybe ILLEGAL! Just some employee sitting in a cubicle eating cheetos. These clowns are bottom feeders for an ILLEGAL PDL company. Tell them to kick rocks you owe them nothing. They are SCAMMERS

There will be no arbitration of nothing. They are unlicensed and Illegal in your state. Tell lawllel to validate the debt and send their license number. They will scratch their hollow heads in panic

ok so i am reading these post's and i am wondering why so many people are taking out payday loan's and then defaulting on them and then asking how to get out of their obligation? Don't get me wrong i think the interest rates are nuts and wouldnt pay them but to shirk the responsibility of what you borrowed at least is mind blowing..and the moderators in here that promote the idea that its ok to steal money..to take out multiple payday loans then close ur checking account and say you don't have a license to lend money in my state..the internet is not governed by state law's. Fulfill your obligations people.quit stealing money and then begging someone to help you find a loop hole. The people that moderate here are probably the people with the worst credit and have the most outstanding collection items..Be carefull where you get your advice.Ask the moderators if any company has the right to sue you for non payment of a debt...the answer is YES!!! Contact them and negotiate terms..don't try to evade your resposibility.

Hey Shocked, many people in here have fallen into the trap. We always tell them to pay back what they borrowed. not a penny more if the PDL is illegal. If they are legal then they have to pay as agreed. But most people are in here because they got suckered into a PDL and then are being charged illegal intrest rates. That is what we are telling them. So as for you Shocked/bottom dweller. STFU and move on

You pay $2000 on a $200 loan and see if you are still talking fulfill your obligations. Every company that gives money is not legit just so you know. The day an ILLEGAL PDL sues me I will eat my shoes and quit this thread..LMOA

The company of Lawall & Associates also is trying to claim money to be paid back on behalf of paydayloan.com... They have contacted me and told me 2 weeks ago that my balance was over $3600, then called me back today to tell me that it was only $1100. However they have a pdl on an account that was closed before the date of this loan, also to an email that I never had. I was informed by the local police dept that they cannot file felony charges against you for check fraud. Also check with your local state lawas regarding pdl's. Every state is different that is why there are companies out there that wont provide loans to people in California. Those are all considered a type of pyramid scheme here and are illegal. Just as much as the law firm trying to collect these debts. I have closed my bank account due to other fraud going on, and then to start receiving these phone calls about the loan needing to be repaid. I explained to them that I was already a victim of fraud and good luck getting any money from me.
